  Overall, this store is a bit of a mixed bag. They have a solid stock of the usual plumbing, electrical, and hardware supplies, and it’s really convenient not having to drive all the way to Wasilla for things like screws and lags. However, the customer service can be inconsistent. I had an experience with the counter staff where they seemed a little suspicious when I was using my card, even though the card was worn and the company’s fault for not embossing the information, and they threatened not to accept it. Beyond that, I tried to get a price quote on a special order – an LVL beam – and it was a frustrating process. I sent an email, got one brief phone call I couldn't take, and then no further communication. I eventually had to call Builders Choice to get the price, which is why I’m willing to drive to the Wasilla location for better service and more reliable support. report abuse

  “I’m incredibly disappointed with my experience with Alpine windows through Spenards. We purchased triple-pane windows five years ago, and it’s been a nightmare ever since. They’ve repeatedly sent us the wrong sizes for replacement windows, and frankly, it’s been a huge hassle. Within a year, the windows started letting in cold air due to issues with the frames – instead of fixing the actual problem, they just suggested caulking! It’s clear they’re having widespread issues across the state. To add to the frustration, we noticed smudges between the glass panes after installation, but because it wasn’t caught beforehand, we’re not eligible for a replacement. I usually prefer to support local businesses, but this experience has really made me rethink my choices. I wish we had gone with a more reliable retailer like Lowe’s or Home Depot – at least they stand behind their products.” report abuse

  “That visit was surprisingly hilarious! My colleague and I were hunting for a simple screwdriver and screws, but we kept circling back to the same things. It wasn't until a lightbulb moment – we realized we were looking for a basic flathead screwdriver and screws, something we’d walked right past a dozen times. It was a bit unusual that one employee didn't recognize a wooden wedge, but honestly, it was a small detail and didn't detract from the great service.
