It feels like they’re just rubber-stamping Golden Key applications without actually doing the basic due diligence, like confirming a contractor’s insurance coverage. It’s shockingly easy to get a GCL, as if they’re handing them out like cereal boxes! When I tried to follow up, I was met with silence or outright rudeness – they’d just hang up on me. The insurance situation is particularly concerning. The policy was opened in October 2020, but the Golden Key application was processed in October 2021, and the policy wasn’t actually active until December 2020. It’s completely baffling how this happened, and it’s created a massive financial burden – the job has now cost me over $180,000!”
