I can’t recommend this company. My experience has been incredibly frustrating and, frankly, a complete scam. From the very beginning, they misled me about financing – they told me they’d cover the solar panels for the first two years, but I was paying for them upfront and still haven't received the promised checks. Adding to the problem, the loan company they work with, Mosaic, is a really aggressive lender. After just one year, they demanded a significant tax credit, something I struggled to understand and obtain without professional help. Worse, they damaged my roof during the installation, and they’ve refused to take responsibility for the repairs. My roofer confirmed the damage would have made me ineligible for the solar panels in the first place, suggesting they were simply prioritizing profit over my property. Communication has been awful too – they’re consistently unresponsive and unable to provide answers. They even denied covering the expected rate changes they initially promised, leaving me stuck waiting for two years. And finally, if anything happens to the panels, you're entirely reliant on your homeowner's insurance, which could significantly increase your premiums. I deeply regret pursuing this with them.

I’m incredibly disappointed with this company. From the very beginning, in April, they’ve been completely unresponsive and unwilling to complete the work they promised. My husband, Justin Key, has made countless calls, including to the CEO, but we’ve received no help whatsoever. It’s clear they don’t value their customers or their business. To add to the frustration, we’re being charged for solar panels that aren’t functioning, and one is even broken – a real eyesore. They’ve still not returned the money they’ve already taken from our account, despite it being two months overdue. Honestly, I would strongly advise anyone considering solar panels to look elsewhere and avoid the significant headaches we’ve experienced.

I’m incredibly disappointed and frankly, furious with this company. We’ve been waiting over a year for our solar panels, and they haven’t even installed them! Worse, they damaged our porch roof during the process, placing the panels on our deck instead of the house – which is now leaking and showing signs of serious damage, potentially even collapsing. It’s completely unacceptable and feels like a scam. My husband has spent countless hours trying to get them to address the issue, but they’ve ignored him repeatedly. We’ve lost a significant amount of money – $75,000 – and I strongly advise anyone considering this company to stay far away.

“Overall, the experience with Design 1 was a little disappointing. While the technician was very pleasant, I felt we weren’t fully informed upfront. It would have been really helpful if they’d explained from the beginning that a very high credit score was essentially a requirement for this type of solar panel system. Honestly, the conversation quickly shifted to affordability and the savings involved, which wasn’t what I was hoping for. I was motivated by wanting to do my part for the environment and for my family to be proud of our sustainable choices. I realize now I got too caught up in the financial aspects, but it would have been much better if the high credit score need had been addressed early on. It felt like we were suddenly shut out of the conversation, and I worry that this approach will discourage other potential customers from being completely transparent.”

I’m incredibly disappointed with this company. There were numerous issues throughout my experience, including deceptive sales practices and a consistently unprofessional approach. Based on feedback from other customers, it seems there are widespread problems, and we’re considering legal action. I strongly advise against using this company.

“To be honest, I signed the contract pretty quickly based on what the salesperson told me and my limited knowledge of solar. However, after doing some research and discovering that my electric company in Alabama is going to make this a really difficult switch, I’ve decided I’d prefer not to move forward with the installation. I wish the salesperson had mentioned these potential challenges to me beforehand, as it would have allowed me to make a more informed decision. I’d really like to cancel my contract at this point.”

I can’t recommend this company at all. Seriously, avoid them. I wouldn’t give them less than zero stars if I could. They didn’t save me any money, and in fact, my power bill actually went up. It was like paying for decorative panels – a complete waste of money.

“I’ve been waiting since April for these solar panels to be installed, and they finally got put in during August. Now it’s September, and I’m still unable to get them turned back on – it’s completely stopped progress. I’m really frustrated because I’m paying for a service that isn’t being completed.”
-
“I’d really like to discuss these points in more detail. Could you give me a call at 207-496-923?”

This was a really disappointing experience. There were just too many issues to make it worth visiting.
