  Matt was a genuinely pleasant and intelligent guy, and he seemed very enthusiastic about the project from the start. However, things quickly became complicated. He consistently made ambitious promises, like wanting to have the system installed before our next electric bill, which I knew was unrealistic. The project ultimately took six months to complete, largely because he handles all the work through subcontractors – which made it incredibly difficult to stick to a firm schedule. There were some serious issues too; the roofer ended up using twice the amount of shingles needed, and only agreed to correct it after I’d pushed him to reduce the cost. Similarly, he couldn't pay the tree contractor upfront, so we ended up paying with a credit card, which was then used to pay the tree guy. It wasn’t until the very end that we discovered a different company was actually managing the project with the bank, and they had no knowledge of our credit card payment or that we were still owed money. The electrical contractor was understandably frustrated and vowed never to work with a “DIY” approach again. Moving forward, it's absolutely crucial that anyone you work with, especially subcontractors, is completely transparent about who’s involved from the beginning. report abuse

  I absolutely have to share my fantastic experience with Matt and his team at DIY. We replaced a 13-year-old system, and the new one is a complete game-changer! It’s genuinely kicking – and incredibly reliable. Matt was fantastic throughout the entire process, providing constant support and answering all my questions. To be honest, I was skeptical at first, but since installation, our system has been running completely off-grid, even during those cloudy New England winter days with just a 10k battery backup. Seriously, it’s unbelievable! Matt is incredibly knowledgeable and straightforward, and I really appreciate his advice.
