  Tom and the team at J.E.B. were absolutely fantastic to work with – we’re so thrilled with our new home! We started the process in late 2020, and after researching quite a few builders in the Lansing area, Tom really stood out. He was incredibly upfront and honest from the very beginning, and he took the time to show us some of his current projects. It quickly became clear that J.E.B. focuses on quality, and we could really see the difference in materials and the detail they put into everything. Of course, building during the height of Covid presented some major challenges – supply chain issues and shortages were really impacting everyone. But Tom and his team did a remarkable job of navigating those difficulties and keeping us informed every step of the way. Any extra costs related to our customizations or material shortages were always explained transparently, and we felt the pricing was more than fair. Honestly, the tradespeople they brought in were top-notch. From the framers and stone mason to the finish carpenters and everyone in between – every single one of them took incredible pride in their work and went above and beyond. We’re so happy with the final result, and we wholeheartedly recommend J.E.B. – it was truly one of the best decisions we ever made! report abuse

  We absolutely loved working with JEB – they truly understand what it means to build a home with quality and genuine care. Tom was fantastic; a really down-to-earth guy who’s clearly passionate about his work, and it shows in the incredible homes he builds. We felt completely supported and valued throughout the entire process. Dan, our project manager, was also a huge asset – he was refreshingly honest and offered invaluable advice and expertise.   “Overall, working with Tom was a really frustrating experience. As someone with a lifetime of experience in construction, I found his communication to be consistently dishonest regarding permits, costs, and the project schedule. This led to a breakdown in trust and ultimately, we had to terminate our contract. I’m glad we did, as I’ve since heard similar stories from other customers who had the same negative experiences with his company.” report abuse

The quality of their work was outstanding, but honestly, what really stood out was the team’s incredible integrity. Tom, Jason, and Brenda, and everyone at JEB, consistently went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and taken care of throughout the entire process. Building while living in Chicago presented some communication challenges – particularly due to the distance and the COVID situation – but JEB was incredibly flexible and willing to work with us.   “I had a really disappointing experience with this company. I was planning a kitchen and dining room addition and remodel, and from the start, things went terribly wrong. The initial consultant, Tom, was an hour late to our first appointment because he had the wrong information, and ended up visiting the wrong house. Despite this initial hiccup, he did offer some helpful ideas and even took our blueprints to make some changes. We were genuinely excited to move forward. However, ten days later, he cancelled our follow-up appointment and then informed me he couldn’t commit to our project – suddenly claiming he had ten new builds and needed 4-5 months to complete them. It became clear that our project wasn't a priority because it wasn't a new build, and he wasn’t making the same profit. It felt like we were being dropped to the bottom of the list. Honestly, the whole process was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. If you’re looking at a new build, I’d suggest giving them a call, but I wouldn’t recommend them for any other type of project.” report abuse
