From the initial design conversations through to the final construction, G & S Contracting went above and beyond, truly treating them like their only project. They were incredibly responsive and communicative, keeping John and Lisa fully informed every step of the way and ensuring the project stayed on schedule – moving as quickly as possible while still meeting their needs. Now, whenever they host guests, they receive rave reviews about the open, inviting space, which feels like a luxurious vacation home. The porch/Florida room they built turned out fantastic – even better than we initially envisioned! Throughout the whole process, the team was incredibly helpful, and we were able to easily make some adjustments as we went along.   “We absolutely love our new home – it’s everything we’ve ever wanted! Building it with G & S was a truly remarkable experience, though it certainly wasn’t a straightforward process. They faced some huge challenges from the start, like us living two hours away and being unable to be on-site daily, plus we’d already sold our old house and were working under a tight deadline. Adding to the complexity, we were demolishing an existing structure and painstakingly saving the original foundation – a really tricky engineering undertaking. The property was also in a historical district in Charlestown, making the approval process incredibly demanding, and its waterfront location meant navigating all the new FEMA regulations. Because it was a completely custom design, from start to finish, they had to secure special approvals and extensive engineering work. Despite all of this, G & S delivered a stunning home, on time and under budget! What really set them apart was their incredible relationships within the community and with the local officials, inspectors, and regulators – they really smoothed out any potential roadblocks. Dave, Larry, and their team of subcontractors were fantastic, and Bruce and Georgia were amazing at keeping us updated and always open to our ideas.   I can’t recommend this company – not even to my worst enemy. Our experience with their home remodeling plans was incredibly disappointing and frankly, a disaster. We encountered problems at every turn, and they completely outsourced every aspect of the work except the framing, which ended up costing us significantly more. The subcontractors they used were also shockingly poor in their workmanship. Honestly, save your money and look for a more reliable builder. We even discovered later that they were the original builders of our home, and they never disclosed this crucial information. It was a really frustrating and stressful experience, and we strongly advise against using their services. report abuse

  I’m very disappointed with the service I received. The employee I interacted with was consistently rude and made me feel quite uncomfortable. Because of this experience, I will not be using their services again and will be sharing my concerns with others. report abuse

They built my niece’s home, not mine, and the quality was so poor that we had to hire a separate building inspector to address several issues.
