  I was really struggling with a persistent moisture problem in one corner of my basement, and I got several contractors in to take a look. Most of them suggested a fairly standard approach – installing a French drain and sump pumps, and the quotes were in the $10,000 to $18,000 range. What struck me as odd was that they didn’t seem to want to really investigate the root cause, which was a significant crack in the foundation. Then I spoke with Evan from Clifton, and his solution – excavating around the corner and patching the crack from the outside – just made more sense to me. His estimate was significantly lower, and I initially thought he might be missing something, but after a thorough discussion, I felt confident in his plan. The team was fantastic; they were on time, incredibly courteous, and answered all my questions patiently. They dug right up to the foundation footing, and they did an absolutely outstanding job patching the crack, applying a protective coating, and then restoring the surrounding soil. Honestly, the moisture problem has completely disappeared since they finished the work.   We absolutely loved working with Clifton Contracting! We were struggling with serious flooding and drainage problems in our backyard and needed a new French drain installed, and they were fantastic. Evan and his team were incredibly communicative and really efficient – scheduling the work was super easy, and they finished the job surprisingly quickly. We’re so thrilled with the results; it’s been about a month since they completed the work, and we haven’t had any flooding at all! For the first time in the six years we’ve owned our house, we’re even seeing grass growing back in our backyard.   Overall, I’m really pleased with the work Exterior Waterproofing, specifically Evan from Clifton Contracting, did to address the water problem in my basement. For a while, I was completely stumped about why water was coming in during heavy rains. I spoke to three different contractors who couldn’t figure it out, and they suggested a fairly extensive drainage system as a potential fix. Evan, thankfully, was able to quickly pinpoint the issue – there was a void under my stairwell causing the water to enter. He recommended filling that void and installing a new drainage pipe connected to my downspout. The work was completed in December, and amazingly, my basement has stayed dry even with all the recent torrential storms. However, I recently noticed a connection issue with the new drainage pipe and contacted Evan. He responded incredibly quickly and is coming out tomorrow to get it fixed. It’s clear he's committed to providing excellent customer service, and I highly recommend Exterior Waterproofing. report abuse
