They were incredibly professional and did a fantastic job – everything was completed efficiently, and they always took the time to clean up each day. While there were a few minor things that needed adjusting, they addressed them instantly with a quick phone call or text. Honestly, the quality of their work is outstanding, and it’s definitely worth the investment. A special shout-out to Jose and Chris for their amazing work with the kitchen drawers, and Barry Thombs for his brilliant design ideas.   We absolutely loved working with Rockaway on our recent remodel – it was our first major project and we were understandably anxious about getting it done right. We were really set on a seamless, fully managed experience, avoiding any of the frustrating delays and disruptions that can happen with smaller, piecemeal jobs. We had a very specific vision: a truly accessible and senior-friendly design, including a roll-in shower with a bench, low vanities, widened doorways, grab bars, and great lighting, plus a large walk-in closet. The reconfiguring of the space involved a lot of demolition and rebuilding, and Rockaway delivered exactly what we wanted. Barry, the owner, was fantastic – he walked us through the whole process, explaining everything clearly and making sure we were comfortable every step of the way. John, the project manager, and all the subcontractors were incredibly professional, responsive, and skilled. They were always aware of our needs and addressed any issues immediately. And to top it off, they sent a cleaning crew to tidy up after the work was completed! Blake and Lori in the office were also amazing. Honestly, after reading some of the negative reviews about other companies, we're convinced those reviewers didn't actually work with Rockaway.   “I was so pleased with the work RockAway Company did for us – they completely transformed our kitchen and bathroom, and we’re absolutely loving it! Barry and his team were fantastic to work with; I especially appreciated his help in picking out the materials. It was great getting to know him, and I felt like I gained a friend throughout the process. Their crew is clearly very experienced and you can tell they’re dedicated, providing excellent service. My only piece of advice would be to consider a different countertop material than marble – I personally would have gone with granite.   Overall, we were extremely pleased with The Rockaway Company. From the initial planning stages, Larry was fantastic – he was really knowledgeable and offered some great suggestions for our cabinets, flooring, and tile. John did a brilliant job managing the project and kept everything running smoothly, even with a few changes along the way. Their design ideas were truly outstanding and far exceeded what I had imagined. What really stood out was the team itself; the craftsmen have a lot of experience working together and are fantastic to talk to about any questions or concerns. And their project manager was incredibly helpful and always available. They also left the work area spotless every night. Yes, Rockaway might be a bit pricier than some, but honestly, the quality of their work is absolutely top-notch.   “Everything’s coming along really well with the kitchen remodel – I’m absolutely thrilled with the work! Barry has been fantastic, offering really helpful suggestions that perfectly suit my kitchen and lifestyle. John, the project manager, has kept everything running smoothly and on schedule. We’re just waiting on the final touches – the drawer and cabinet handles – and once the recycled appliances are in, I’ll let you know how the space is working.   “We hired Rockaway to completely remodel our hall bathroom, and while the overall work was acceptable, we unfortunately ran into a major problem with the cabinets. The paint started peeling off shortly after the remodel was finished. We contacted Rockaway and they admitted the cabinets hadn't been properly prepared before painting, which is why the paint didn’t stick. We requested they honor the warranty and redo the cabinet work, but the owner immediately became defensive, insisting it wouldn’t work and that we’d have to replace the doors and drawers ourselves. It was incredibly frustrating because he hadn’t mentioned any concerns about the paint job during the initial quoting process. His solution of just touching up the peeling areas felt like a completely inadequate fix and made it clear he wasn't committed to quality work. Beyond the cabinet issue, we also had problems with our master shower. While the shower itself was well-done, the owner became agitated when we asked him to adjust the showerhead to the height we’d originally specified – it was six inches too low. Then, the showerhead leaked, requiring multiple visits and sheetrock removal to fix. Throughout the entire process, we only dealt with Barry and his project manager, and honestly, the experience left us very disappointed. Given the issues we faced and the owner's unwillingness to stand behind his work, we wouldn't recommend Rockaway.” report abuse
