“We’ve used Mid-Maryland Excavating for three homes now, and they did a fantastic job with the initial excavation and grading on the first one, about five or six years ago. The last two homes we had them work on were a bit of a mixed bag though. They’re clearly experienced – they know their stuff – but we ran into some problems with equipment breakdowns and staffing shortages, and the cost estimates ended up being significantly higher than anticipated, sometimes three times what we were quoted. We’ve also used them for demolition and septic work, which they handled well. Overall, it feels like the quality of their work has slipped a little over time. Despite the recent issues, their prices are still competitive, so it really comes down to your tolerance for potential delays and challenges.”

I recently had Mid Maryland Excavating demolish the house next to mine, a place that had been vacant and overrun with wildlife for many years. While I appreciate them tackling the problem of a very old, neglected house, my experience with the job was incredibly disappointing. They gave me just 36 hours’ notice, which left me with absolutely no time to protect my property or prepare for the disruption. As someone with 30 years of experience in the construction trades, including operating heavy equipment, this lack of communication was unacceptable. The demolition itself was handled very poorly. The operator didn’t seem to prioritize safety – no spotter, no water line to control dust, and minimal attempts to contain the mess. The only protection was a basic garden hose, which, frankly, was laughable. When I returned home, my driveway and garden were completely covered in debris – insulation, siding, glass, and nails. It was clear they hadn’t taken any steps to mitigate the mess, and the lack of professionalism was astounding. Things didn't improve on the second day, although they did finally bring a large water tank. However, the way they used it – blasting debris toward my house – was incredibly reckless and demonstrated a complete disregard for my property. The entire job took three days, and the final result was rough, with poor stormwater management. And to add insult to injury, they left my driveway completely littered with debris. It’s clear Mid Maryland Excavating doesn't prioritize customer service, attention to detail, or even basic cleanup. I wouldn't recommend them – steer clear and choose a company that actually cares about doing a quality job.

“We had a really distressing experience with this company back in April 2018. They were working on a project nearby, and unfortunately, they caused a significant incident – knocking down a telephone pole that cut off power to our entire block. The aftermath was chaotic, with debris falling everywhere, and it’s taken over two weeks for us to finally get things cleaned up. We were extremely concerned about their safety practices and found the whole situation completely unacceptable.”

Dave was fantastic – he really went above and beyond to support my foundation. Communication was excellent, and he was always responsive, even with a little background noise! Overall, a great job and I really appreciate his support.
