  Eric and Emcon, Inc. did a fantastic job with our deck rebuild. It’s really refreshing to work with someone who actually returns calls and emails – that was a great first step! They went above and beyond, with incredible attention to detail and precision, especially considering the deck was 35 years old. The job foreman was a real professional and his crew worked incredibly hard and consistently, even in challenging conditions.   “We chose Emcon a little over a year ago when we were just getting settled in the area and didn’t know anyone to ask for recommendations. We’ve been using them for our fix-and-flip business near St. Cloud, and we recently hired them to do a lot of the work on our new home in Park Rapids – and we absolutely couldn't be happier! Their rates were fantastic, they paid such close attention to detail, and the quality of their craftsmanship was outstanding. Plus, their communication was top-notch. Because of how amazing the final result was, we’ve actually started spending more time up here, and I wholeheartedly recommend Emcon if you're considering a remodel or new construction project.” report abuse

  Overall, we’re thrilled with the finished addition and remodel – it looks fantastic and we’d absolutely give Emcon 5 stars for the quality of the work itself. However, the project management side of things needs significant improvement. We had a lot of issues that arose because of a lack of consistent oversight. We went through two project managers during the entire process, and honestly, it felt like they weren't always present or engaged. We really needed someone on-site regularly, checking in on things, directing the subcontractors, and keeping a close eye on the budget. There were some serious mistakes that could have been avoided with better management. For example, the framer built the porch floor and roof *before* putting in the footings – it was a huge waste of materials! And the concrete dust from cutting the doorway into our basement was a nightmare, triggering our alarms constantly. We also had water stains in our ceiling because the roof wasn’t properly sealed, and the drawings themselves didn’t fully address the details we wanted, like built-in cabinets around our fireplace. It’s frustrating when you’re paying a lot of money for a project and don’t feel like you’re getting the attention and care you deserve. We were also over budget by $60,000, despite increasing our initial budget. We suspect Emcon might have been stretched thin with a lot of jobs going on, but as customers, we need to feel like every project is a priority. We just wish they'd been more proactive in managing the details and keeping us informed. And please, please don’t use that framer again! report abuse

They’ve always delivered everything perfectly – on budget, on schedule, and with exceptional quality.   Overall, we were really pleased with Emcon’s work remodeling our bathrooms last winter. They stuck to the agreed-upon timeline and budget, which was fantastic. Matt Henry, our project coordinator, was especially helpful and always quick to respond to any questions we had. We’d definitely consider using them again in the future. report abuse
