  Overall, our experience with North Country Builders was really mixed. Barry and Denis clearly have talent and a strong design sense – they did an absolutely beautiful job on our tiny timber frame home, and we’re so thrilled with the result. We’d definitely recommend them for larger projects, particularly homes in the $3-10 million range. However, things went dramatically wrong after 2021. We commissioned them to renovate a retail building and, while the initial work in 2021 was fantastic, communication and completion completely fell apart. After that initial burst of activity, they became increasingly unreliable, with sporadic visits and a noticeable drop in quality. It became incredibly frustrating to get answers or updates about the ongoing work. Specifically, we witnessed some careless behavior – like tools left rusting on our plants and materials being replaced with cheaper alternatives without our consent. Ultimately, we’re now paying another company to fix the incomplete work we originally hired North Country Builders to do, and it’s been a very disappointing and stressful experience. report abuse

  “Barry and NCCB were absolutely fantastic – we’ve honestly never had a better experience building our home. I’d been so worried about all the hidden costs and unexpected problems that come with building, but Barry was completely upfront and honest from the start. There were no surprises, no sneaky charges – just a really straightforward and reliable service. He was a genuinely nice guy too, and made the whole process actually enjoyable! It’s so refreshing to find someone so honest and transparent, especially in an industry where that’s not always the norm.
