  I want to share a really important warning based on my own experience with a solar company. If you’re considering solar, please listen carefully. Based on what happened to me, I strongly advise against working with this particular company. I learned the hard way that the promise of a $10,000 tax credit is often misleading – it’s not a guarantee, and I ended up paying significantly more than I anticipated. They initially offered a $50,000 payment, including the cost of a new roof, but things quickly went wrong. They made a huge hole in my basement ceiling without fixing it, and the solar panels never actually worked for months. I didn’t even realize this was happening because they didn’t respond to my calls or emails. Now I’ve discovered the panels aren't functioning at all. I’m sharing this story to prevent others from making the same mistake I did. Seriously, please, don’t do business with this company. report abuse

  “Overall, our experience with Smart Green Solar was fantastic – really quick and easy. They completed the roof and solar installation in just a few days after the initial surveys. The only delay we encountered was with the permits, which is completely out of their control. I especially want to commend Jaelyn for her outstanding support after the installation. She took the time to walk me through the app and patiently helped me resolve a couple of minor issues. Her responses were always prompt and incredibly helpful. I’d absolutely recommend Smart Green Solar to anyone. However, I’m very concerned because I’ve been unable to get any response from them since December 18th – I’ve tried calling and emailing multiple times with no luck, and it seems the people I was contacting no longer work there.” report abuse

  Brad was incredibly impressed with the Smartgreen team – Hannah, Jess, Josh, Jay, and everyone involved. He particularly appreciated the thorough explanation regarding the slight variations in power output from the panels due to factors like shading and placement. It was reassuring to learn that, even with a reduced panel count, they still projected nearly 96% of the original plant’s output. Brad felt the team’s time, clear communication, and fair compensation demonstrated a genuine commitment to customer service, which he valued greatly.   “I’m extremely disappointed with this company. They seem to have vanished without a trace – I’ve been unable to get any information on how to contact them. I also want to give a huge shout-out to the CEO, who personally visited my home to address a roof leak and quickly resolved the issue.   “We’ve unfortunately had a very frustrating experience with Smart Green Solar. Despite a promised six-week project, we’re now five months in with no system installed and minimal progress. They’ve been incredibly focused on securing payments while failing to deliver on their core service. Honestly, we strongly advise against working with them – they seem to prioritize taking money rather than fulfilling their commitments, and we haven’t seen any real movement towards getting our solar system operational.” report abuse

  Honestly, my experience with SmartGreen Solar has been incredibly frustrating. The salesman gave me some misleading information – it seemed he didn’t really understand the RI Renewable Energy Growth Program – and then he misled me about being able to add more equipment to my system than was originally planned. Once the system was finally installed, it took an absolutely ridiculous amount of time to activate, and I ended up having to contact the component manufacturer to get it running. To add to the problem, I wasn't receiving any consumption data, because SmartGreen Solar hadn’t properly installed the current sensors. I had to hire another contractor to complete the job. Now, years later, a microinverter has failed and they’re still dragging their feet about sending a technician to fix it – despite having the replacement part. It’s completely unacceptable, and I strongly advise anyone to avoid SmartGreen Solar. I deeply regret trusting them with my home. report abuse
