  “We hired Matt to design and build our atrium, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. Initially, he seemed enthusiastic and assured us the project would stay within our $20,000 budget and be completed on schedule. However, once we signed the contract, he became very difficult to reach. The final cost was exactly $20,000, but we were missing several key elements we’d specifically requested, like tall plants, proper lighting, and a vertical succulent wall. The stepping stone walkway was also poorly designed and uncomfortable to walk on. Worse still, he tried to bill us for an irrigation timer we already had! He frequently argued with us via email, even accusing me of lying. He wasn’t on-site to oversee the work, and he didn’t even bother to check in after it was finished. Throughout the process, he kept pushing for a later completion date despite our prompt responses and his own slow communication. It felt like we weren't a priority, and he frequently blamed the landscaping company for issues that were actually his responsibility. Overall, we would strongly advise against hiring Matt – we certainly wouldn’t be using his services again.” report abuse

  Matt from Water and Earth Landscape Design was fantastic to work with. He really elevated our backyard renovation, bringing a professional and thoughtful approach to the design. He was incredibly patient answering all our questions and incorporating our ideas – we absolutely love the finished result in Willow Glen, which includes the pergola, deck, patio, lawn, lighting, and irrigation.   Matt was fantastic during our virtual design consultation. It really helped us get a clearer picture of what we wanted for our backyard renovation. He used a satellite image to sketch out a basic plan while we discussed ideas and gave us some really valuable insights and tips. He also gave us a realistic idea of the potential costs involved. Overall, the session gave us a great starting point and we’re seriously considering bringing Matt on board to help us through the whole project. report abuse

  Matt was a fantastic landscape designer who really helped us bring our vision for our new home to life. From our initial meeting, he was approachable, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about creating a modern design with a unique flair – exactly what we were looking for. The design process took a little while – about a month and a half – but Matt was great at listening to our ideas and gently guiding us to ensure the design remained strong. He consistently provided stunning visuals and always brought fresh perspectives to the table. What really stood out was his dedication throughout the entire process. After we finalized the plans, he took the extra step of getting multiple bids and, when a higher quote came in, he was incredibly supportive in helping us adjust the design to stay within our budget. We found him through Yelp and were really impressed with his initial design ideas – he quickly came up with a beautiful plan for our narrow, long yard, balancing efficiency with a clean, uncluttered look. The design, which included a pergola, fire pit, and artificial turf, really flowed and felt like a natural extension of our family room.
