Honestly, our experience with Walker Rental was incredibly frustrating. We rented a pontoon for four days and from the start, several things were wrong – the boat stereo, horn, and navigation lights didn't work. To add to that, they charged our entire $1,000 deposit to the credit card, despite returning the boat in perfect condition. We’ve been chasing them for a week for an update, and the owner initially said the deposit had been issued and it would take up to a month. Now, three weeks later, they’re still telling us they haven’t processed the refund and plan to look into it today. It felt like a really shady operation, and I absolutely wouldn’t recommend renting from Walker Rental.

We had an incredibly frustrating experience renting a pontoon boat from Walker Rental, and we wanted to share our story to warn other renters. We booked a pontoon for June 8th and 9th, 2021, paying a $488 deposit, and were told they’d deliver a SeaRay to Trappers Landing at 8:00 am on the 8th. However, when they arrived at 11:00 am, they hadn’t even secured the boat! It was in shockingly poor condition – ripped, filthy, and, most concerningly, missing a crucial plug. Given the $300 per day rental cost, this was completely unacceptable. After we insisted on canceling the rental due to the unacceptable condition and the fact that the day was already half over, the representative, Todd, refused to refund our deposit, citing a company policy. His behavior was rude and unreasonable, and frankly, a disgrace. We’ve now seen numerous similar complaints online, which only reinforces our concerns. We’re taking this seriously and will be pursuing further action, including contacting legal counsel and local news, to prevent others from experiencing this kind of unprofessional and damaging service.

I was a little hesitant to rent the jet ski at first, having read a lot of reviews, but I’m so glad I took the chance! It was fantastic – I had an amazing time and they even took a video of the whole thing, starting it up on video, which was really reassuring. They were very clear about the pricing, including the $500 deposit, and confirmed it would be credited back once the jet ski was returned and undamaged. Everything went exactly as planned; I got my deposit back within a day of returning the machine, just as they promised. Honestly, I’m so grateful I didn’t let the reviews discourage me – I had an incredible ride around the entire shoreline of Leech Lake! Thanks again for a great experience.

Overall, our experience renting the pontoon and tube wasn’t great. When we picked it up, the boat was already damaged, incredibly dirty, and had a lot of trash left over from the previous renters, and the awning wasn’t working. It rained a bit during our trip, and honestly, having a functioning awning would have been really helpful for keeping our kids and belongings dry. We also found the rope provided for pulling the tube was far too short – it would have been unsafe to pull anyone behind the boat. We asked about a discount since we were expecting a fully working pontoon, but the manager, Nate, was really unfriendly and didn’t seem willing to help us at all. It felt like he just brushed us off. Despite that, the rest of the staff were lovely and helpful, which is why I gave them one star – they really tried to make things right. However, as a manager, you should be more approachable and focused on finding solutions for your customers.”

“I’m incredibly disappointed with this rental experience. We rented a pontoon and two jet skis, but from the moment we picked them up, it felt like a bait-and-switch. They didn’t let us inspect the equipment for any existing damage – there were obvious issues with the boat’s prop, and the water was far too deep to safely operate it as intended. When we returned, they immediately accused us of causing the damage, even though we hadn’t done anything. They even presented an old video of the boat, which could have been taken months before, and claimed it showed the damage was already there. After two frustrating months of chasing them for our deposit back, they’re now demanding over $2,000 in damages – it’s completely unreasonable. Honestly, they were incredibly unresponsive and I wouldn't trust them.”

Honestly, my experience with NAPA Nate was pretty concerning. I’d heard a lot of negative things about him from other people in town – words like rude and insulting kept coming up. The pontoon he offered looked completely unsuitable, like it had been pulled straight out of a farm. And to top it off, he wouldn’t return my deposit. He seemed to relish having a lawyer on speed dial, and made a really strange and threatening comment about my kids’ vacation if I didn’t buy the pontoon. It took a lot to get me riled up, but he definitely earned that reaction. I’d strongly recommend checking out Trappers Landing instead – they were a completely different experience.

Overall, it seemed like a really enjoyable experience for my family – me, my brother, dad, and mom. We had a blast riding the jet ski and wave runner, and the staff were incredibly helpful when we realized we’d initially wanted to rent two. They adjusted the price fairly, and it all worked out perfectly.

“We had a fantastic time renting the pontoon and jet skis – the rates were really great and the team was incredibly helpful and friendly. I’d definitely recommend them!”

Seriously, I wouldn’t recommend renting from this place. It was a complete disappointment.

It was a really positive first impression – the staff were friendly and very helpful.
