  Overall, we were incredibly pleased with Kurber Construction and Erick’s team. We went through a pretty involved process renovating our basement, and Erick really stood out for his responsiveness and communication – he always made sure we felt informed and comfortable with everything. The team’s attention to detail was fantastic, from the initial preparation work all the way through the final clean-up; it was truly top-notch craftsmanship.   “Erick and his team were fantastic to work with after our kitchen suffered some serious water damage. They were incredibly responsive and got right to work, quickly and professionally removing all the cabinets. Once the flooring was fixed, they expertly reassembled everything. They even took care of the drywall repair with a really professional touch and kept us on schedule.   Erick and his team did an absolutely fantastic job remodeling our condo in Waukesha. From start to finish, we felt completely confident in their professionalism, honesty, and the quality of their work – we knew we were in good hands. We were so pleased with the results that we actually hired him again for a garage remodel, and he delivered on time and within budget, all while maintaining a really positive and helpful attitude. Erick was great at offering suggestions and advice on the design choices, but he also respected our decisions and made us feel comfortable throughout the whole process.   “We had an incredibly difficult experience with Kurber Construction, and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend using them. From the start, things spiraled out of control. Erick left our house uninsulated during a brutal polar vortex, and he didn’t inform us that our furnace was failing, leading to a frozen pipe and a major flood in our basement – which he then charged us $2,049 to “mitigate.” Adding to the problems, shortly after we moved back in, the plumbers discovered significant leaks in our laundry room pipes caused by the freeze, requiring us to have a large section of newly installed drywall ripped out. And while Erick initially said he wouldn’t charge extra for this, he later added a separate charge. Furthermore, the shower my friend, a professional tile installer, expertly completed was almost unusable because the boards Erick had installed were severely warped and out of plumb. He insisted everything looked okay, despite it being clearly a major issue. Perhaps most frustratingly, Erick unexpectedly informed my wife that moving our appliances into the house was “out of scope,” despite never having discussed this with us beforehand. This felt like a complete lack of communication, and frankly, it’s unusual practice for a general contractor. Finally, we were shocked to receive a call about an unpaid balance with the plumbing supplier, despite Erick having been paid over $100,000! Overall, our project with Kurber Construction was a disaster. We felt completely taken advantage of, and I would strongly advise anyone considering working with Erick Kurber to think very carefully before proceeding.” report abuse

  Kurber Construction was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience for us, and we strongly advise against using their services. Throughout our full-home renovation, Erick Kurber demonstrated a serious lack of professionalism and honesty. The project was plagued by constant delays – it finished three months behind schedule – and a complete inability to manage costs effectively. Erick struggled to coordinate the project, and his communication was consistently poor. He frequently contradicted himself, forgot promises, and seemed determined to avoid direct conversations with us. We ultimately had to settle a legal dispute for nearly $8,000 due to what we considered to be dishonest billing practices. Specifically, he drastically inflated his hourly rates, charged us a markup on work he hadn’t even done, and significantly increased costs without proper explanation or agreement. We also discovered that he was overcharging for work that should have been significantly less expensive. His unwillingness to communicate and take responsibility for these issues created a truly awful experience. We felt completely misled and left with a finished project that was far from what we’d anticipated. report abuse
