I hired this company to replace the flashing around my sliding glass doors, and I’m incredibly disappointed with the result. They didn’t remove the existing windows as the contract stated, and instead, they damaged the frames while installing new trim with 2-3 inch brad nails. Now, the leak is significantly worse, and when I contacted them to fix the damage, they essentially blamed the old windows for the problem. I chose this company based on their established reputation, but it was a costly mistake. I’d strongly advise against using them – there are other contractors out there who could have done the job properly and for a better price.

Overall, we were absolutely thrilled with the kitchen remodel MBS did for us. From start to finish, it was a really positive experience, and we’re incredibly happy with the beautiful new kitchen. We compared quotes from a few different companies, and MBS was definitely the most affordable. Brian was fantastic – really clear and easy to work with, and we loved the design he created for us. Russ, the contractor who did most of the work, was a standout. He was so thoughtful, experienced, and knowledgeable, and he always made sure to keep us updated and involved in the process. The project came in slightly under budget and on time, which was a huge relief considering some of the horror stories we’d heard about kitchen renovations. We’d wholeheartedly recommend MBS!

“We were really pleased with the initial work done on our historic porch – the quote was fair and they got off to a good start. However, things quickly went wrong. We had significant difficulty getting them to return and complete the job, and we discovered they hadn’t replaced much of the rotten wood as we’d expected, instead reusing a lot of the original trim. When the painting crew inspected the work, they found numerous issues that needed to be completely redone. We spent a long time negotiating with the company, and after another contractor assessed the damage and confirmed more rotten wood needed replacing, they finally agreed to correct their mistakes. Unfortunately, this came at a significant cost – we ended up paying half the original price after already paying nearly $20,000. The entire project, which was supposed to take 4-5 months, ultimately took over a year. Based on this experience, we wouldn’t recommend them for projects involving older structures. While they seem capable with new construction, we’ve learned the hard way that they aren't reliable for restoring historic features. Their final repair work alone, costing around $300 and taking ten hours, highlights the extent of the initial problems.”

Overall, I was incredibly pleased with the work MBS did for me. From the very beginning, the team was so professional, courteous, and clearly knowledgeable about what they were doing. They got right to work, making quick decisions and starting the project almost immediately. I especially appreciated how respectful they were of my home and property – they always cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. The quality of the finished work, particularly the new kitchen counters, sink, and tiled backsplash, as well as the bathroom floor, bathtub, and sink, is fantastic. The installer was dedicated and worked consistently until everything was completed on time, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I wholeheartedly recommend MBS – they did a fantastic job!

Brian Hunter and Michigan Building Specialties were absolutely essential to the successful completion of our project this year. Given the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic – it was incredibly difficult to find anyone willing to take on a new project – Brian’s dedication and persistence were truly remarkable. We’re so pleased with the final result and wholeheartedly recommend him and his company.

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend these guys. We hired them to do some porch work, including new windows and a door, and it was a complete disaster. The window installation was poor and had to be redone, the door leaked terribly, and they were completely unresponsive – we didn’t hear back from them for eight months! Eventually, they replaced the door, but the whole experience was incredibly frustrating and unreliable.
-
“They were really friendly and helpful – they returned my call quickly and managed to schedule an appointment at a time that worked perfectly for me.”
-
“They’re a really reliable crew – they’ve handled just about any construction task we needed done, and we were very impressed with their professionalism and honesty.”
-
“The crew was fantastic – really professional and always willing to help out.”
-
This project was handled really well – it was consistently reliable and they got everything done promptly.
