Joe Mayer was absolutely fantastic to work with on our waterfront home in Annapolis. He was involved with us from the very first idea right through to the finished project, and his insights really elevated the design. He was incredibly helpful in explaining the costs of any changes we considered, and we were so pleased with the subtle but brilliant details he’d incorporated. He had a great rapport with our contractor, and because his plans were so clear and he worked closely with them from the start, we rarely had any follow-up questions. Ultimately, the beautiful and functional design he created was a major factor in getting top dollar when we sold our home in 2015. We’ve used other architects before, but Joe Mayer is, without a doubt, the best.

“I can honestly say working with Joe and his team was a fantastic experience. We engaged them on five different projects – everything from renovating a small cottage to restoring a historic building and expanding our home. Throughout each project, Joe and his team were consistently resourceful and came up with brilliant solutions to unexpected challenges. I wholeheartedly recommend J. Mayer Architects.”

“Joe from J. Mayer Architects was absolutely fantastic to work with during our recent home renovation in Annapolis. He was incredibly open to our ideas, brought a really creative approach to the project, and, importantly, completed everything on time and with a real level of professionalism. I wholeheartedly recommend his services – I’ve actually suggested J. Mayer Architects to several friends who needed architectural help.”

“I hired Joseph Mayer and his firm to help with the architectural changes during my home renovation, after meeting him at an event. The initial quote process was fantastic – Joe was incredibly punctual and provided a really detailed explanation of his approach. He delivered the “As Built” drawings as promised, though they did have a few minor issues that I was okay with at the time. However, things quickly went downhill once it came to actually developing the design. His initial sketches were poorly drawn and didn’t seem to take into account the practicalities of engineering the design. I raised my concerns, and unfortunately, this led to a significant increase in the bill – more than doubling the original estimate. This is where things really fell apart. His invoices were confusing, just listing hours and a subtotal without any reference back to the original estimate. I insisted on a formal contract and refused to authorize further billing until we had one. Despite this, he continued to send revised sketches and bills. Ultimately, he refused to negotiate a solution to my concerns. Now, three months later, his office still hasn’t provided any explanation for the invoices, and they’re now adding late charges. I strongly advise anyone considering hiring Joseph Mayer and his firm to carefully review their contract terms and conditions – they seem to be written with the assumption that problems will inevitably arise.”

“Joe did an absolutely fantastic job designing our two barber shops. He really took the time to guide us through the entire process and provided first-class service – we’re definitely looking forward to working with him again in the future.”

Joe has been fantastic to work with on three separate projects. We were consistently thrilled with the results – he delivered exactly what we needed and envisioned. We’ll definitely be reaching out to him again for our next project.

Joe was a fantastic addition to the team. He quickly stepped up and delivered valuable expertise, and we were really pleased with the quality of his work. He was also a genuinely nice guy and we appreciated his fair pricing.
