“I’ve been really impressed with the work being done in our area, and that’s what led me to Cutting Edge Homes. Sean was fantastic – so helpful and offered some great ideas for my kitchen remodel, even though he was working with me from out of state. Honestly, his responsiveness and support were exceptional. If he was this good to work with remotely, I can only imagine how positive and collaborative the experience would be for someone right here in Michigan!”

“We couldn’t be happier with the complete home renovation Cutting Edge Homes did for us. They were incredibly responsive and efficient, getting the job done on time. Sean and his team were fantastic – always available to answer our questions and incredibly professional. Honestly, it was the best decision we made, and we highly recommend Cutting Edge Homes!”

“I wholeheartedly recommend Cutting Edge Homes – in my opinion, they’re the best custom build team in Boston. We’re absolutely thrilled with our new home, and I’d confidently recommend them to any friend or family member. Sean and his team were fantastic; they were incredibly attentive to every detail and kept us fully informed throughout the entire process.”

I’m incredibly disappointed with the entire experience. The promised extras, which were discussed beforehand, ended up significantly changing the scope of the project, and we’re now left with a very incomplete finished product. It’s frustrating to have invested a substantial sum – hundreds of thousands – in a renovation only to have the contractor abandon the final details and refuse to pay for the remaining balance. Frankly, it feels like they walked away from their responsibility. It’s clear they weren’t interested in completing the work of others, and I would caution anyone considering Cutting Edge – you’re likely to encounter a similar situation.

We had a really disappointing experience renovating our townhouse with Cutting Edge Builders. We started the project in June of 2022 and finally received our permits in March 2023. Initially, things seemed to be moving along, but soon we realized we were far behind schedule, and they were significantly over budget. Despite our concerns, the company owner kept assuring us they'd get back on track, even requesting additional payments. We paid according to the agreed-upon schedule, hoping for our kitchen cabinets to be ordered. However, around mid-July, everything stopped. All the subcontractors left, refusing to work until they were paid for their work on other projects, and Cutting Edge simply couldn’t cover their debts. We’d paid approximately two-thirds of the total project cost, but only about 30% of the work was actually completed – the entire townhouse was gutted with the framing and electrical mostly finished. We’d even signed off on the kitchen cabinets and millwork in April, but they hadn’t ordered them, and they couldn’t make the deposit. They suggested we pay the subcontractors and the cabinet manufacturer directly, and Cutting Edge would reimburse us later, but we refused to pay more until the work was done. We ended up having to pay the port-a-potty company ourselves to remove it, and they hadn't paid them since April! Ultimately, Cutting Edge seemed to have abandoned the project, despite their earlier promises. Based on other reviews we’ve read since, we strongly advise against using Cutting Edge Builders.

I cannot recommend Cutting Edge. Our experience was incredibly disappointing and, frankly, stressful. From the start, the owner seemed more like a salesperson focused on making a sale than a trusted advisor. Timelines were consistently long, and we found them difficult to get in touch with. They initially promised complete control over our budget, including architectural design and construction, but this never materialized. Despite our original budget of $400,000 - $450,000, the final proposal ballooned to over $1 million – a figure we simply couldn’t afford. The proposal itself felt rushed and lacked the detailed, comprehensive budget we expected, especially compared to what we received from other builders. Towards the end, when we tried to scale back the project to align with our budget, they attempted to add further charges. It became clear they weren’t genuinely interested in working with us, and we ultimately made the difficult decision to walk away. While the owner has since reached out, his response doesn't change our negative experience. If you have a very substantial budget, Cutting Edge might be an option, but for families like ours, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

Sean was fantastic – he really took the time to go over my house building ideas and answered all my questions thoroughly. I especially appreciated his insights and suggestions; he brought up some important things I hadn’t considered. I’m still figuring out the timing of a project right now, but I’ll definitely be reaching out to him when I’m ready to move forward.

“We were really disappointed with Cutting Edge’s work on our home renovation project on the south shore. Throughout the process, we ran into a lot of serious issues that ultimately led us to believe they weren’t being upfront with us. Firstly, despite us consistently paying our invoices on time, Cutting Edge repeatedly failed to pay their subcontractors. This resulted in two liens being placed on our property, and one of those took over two months to resolve. It felt like they were essentially running a scheme, using our money to pay off older debts instead of paying the people actually working on our house. Even basic things, like getting the dumpsters emptied and the portable toilet removed, were delayed for months because they couldn’t prioritize payments. Secondly, the communication and project management were incredibly poor. We had weekly hour-long calls with a large team, but it felt like the design professional had no clear understanding of what was going on or how the different elements of the renovation fit together. Her recommendations were often inconsistent, and the overall design felt disjointed. Finally, and perhaps most concerning, was the quality of the workmanship. We had to bring in three separate subcontractors to fix major problems – everything from incorrectly installed locks and light switches to faulty tile flooring. Given the premium we paid for their services, the quality of the work was simply unacceptable. Honestly, we wouldn’t recommend Cutting Edge – we felt Sean wasn't trustworthy."

I’m incredibly disappointed with Cutting Edge. From start to finish, it was a complete scam – they lied about permits and the quality of their work was shockingly poor. We’ve now discovered years’ worth of issues they left behind, and we’re stuck dealing with the town over problems they created. Honestly, save yourself a lot of time and money and go with someone else. Their response after a year of bad reviews just confirms they weren't taking my concerns seriously at the time.

“Cutting Edge Homes truly delivered a fantastic result – we absolutely love our new kitchen! Sean and his team were fantastic; they were incredibly attentive to detail and provided outstanding customer service. It’s honestly the kitchen of our dreams.”
