“I’m really concerned about the significant increase in my bills – they’ve more than doubled since I moved in. Frankly, I’m frustrated that there’s only one company servicing Wellington, and I’m planning to switch as soon as I’m able to find an alternative.”
-
This was a really disappointing experience. The service was shockingly bad, and we kept seeing prices go up without any explanation – it felt completely unfair. Honestly, the company just seemed poorly run and staffed by people who didn’t care. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

I’m incredibly frustrated with Black Hills. After notifying them immediately that I’d sold my house and requested account cancellation, I never received any confirmation. More than a month went by, and they still withdrew money from my account. Worse, there was no invoice attached, leaving me completely in the dark about what I was being charged. When I called to inquire, they refused to provide an explanation without a password I’d set up years ago – a password I’d completely forgotten. It was a truly awful experience.

I’m incredibly frustrated with this company. They’ve been constantly raising their prices, and it feels like they’re deliberately taking advantage of our lack of options. Our electric bill has become completely outrageous, and frankly, it’s unacceptable. The excessive delivery charges, especially considering we don’t even have a local office, are adding insult to injury. We’ve invested a lot in our home – new windows, siding, and a roof – and yet our bills just keep going up and up. It’s clear they’re exploiting the situation, and I’m deeply disappointed by their behavior.”

I’m incredibly frustrated with my experience with Black Hills Energy. From the very beginning, it’s been a nightmare. I moved into my new home in September, but it took until November for them to actually turn on my gas – they initially didn’t believe I’d moved in. They insisted I was the previous tenant trying to scam the system because of an outstanding $25 balance. I had to get a letter from my property owner verifying my identity, which involved a lengthy and inconvenient process. Then, even after that, they still refused to provide service until late October. It took a lot of pressure from my owner to finally get the gas turned on two months after I’d moved in. Now, they’re claiming I didn't pay my bill, despite sending a check that they say they never received! Because of this, they’ve cut off my service and are now demanding $150 for a deposit and an additional $45 for re-hooking it up – it’s completely unreasonable. Honestly, I’ve dealt with other utility companies and they’ve been much more efficient and fair. I’m left without gas and feel like I’ve been treated terribly. I’m giving Black Hills Energy one star; their customer service is unacceptable.

“I’m really frustrated with the billing process. It seems like there are discrepancies between your records and what my bank is showing, and I’m constantly being blamed for issues on my end. I’ve checked my bank account and everything looks correct. It’s incredibly inconvenient and upsetting to receive a disconnect notice when I’m consistently paying on time. I expect a more professional and transparent approach, especially considering my good payment history. Due to this ongoing problem, I’ll need to discuss setting up a payment plan.”
-
“I was really surprised and frustrated by the final bill. The cost of the gas and electricity was $65, and then there was an extra $178 for the delivery fee – that felt excessive. Honestly, I think the delivery charge is way too high, and I feel like BHE is taking advantage of customers. It’s concerning that my energy usage didn’t increase, yet my bill went up so much. It seems like there’s something wrong with the pricing, and I wish the company would show more concern for its customers’ expenses.”
-
“I’m really frustrated with my recent BHE bill. I was charged a delivery fee of $218 for December, and it’s completely unclear why this charge was applied – especially since no actual delivery was made. It feels like just another increase on a bill that’s already too high. Given BHE’s position as the only electricity provider in Laramie County, I feel like we have very little leverage to address these charges.”
-
“I’ve been incredibly frustrated with Black Hills. Just recently, I paid my electricity bill and then, a little over a week later, I received a notice saying the payment had been declined and I was charged an extra $30. This isn’t the first time I’ve had problems with them, and honestly, it feels a little unfair.”
-
“We’ve been incredibly pleased with the service we’ve received. They’ve been fantastic at handling our name changes on the bills and even coordinated quickly to send someone out to inspect the wiring after the previous company’s work. Plus, we really appreciate them passing on their corporate tax savings – it’s a fantastic bonus!”
