  We absolutely loved our time in the home Byrd Design and Build created. It was so clear they put incredible thought and care into every aspect, from the practical build to the overall feeling of the space. Each room had a real sense of purpose and style, beautifully combined with a cohesive design. The finishes were stunning – everything felt both modern and incredibly welcoming, with really thoughtful details like the lighting and textures. It was amazing how they paid attention to the little things, like the custom kitchen and the unique tilework, which really made each space feel special. We particularly loved the variety of spaces, from the cozy reading nook to the fun bunk room for the kids and those beautiful, spa-like bathrooms. It truly felt like a home with a fantastic personality and a wonderful sense of harmony throughout. report abuse

  Honestly, we couldn’t be more thrilled with the addition Byrd Design and Build created for our home – the mudroom, half bath, and in-law suite are absolutely fantastic. From the very beginning, Dalton and his team were incredible. They responded so quickly to our initial inquiry and were just a genuine pleasure to work with. They really listened to what we wanted and had a great way of offering helpful suggestions without pushing us towards something we didn’t truly envision. It was a really big project, and Dalton was always there, offering support and guidance every step of the way. The team was incredibly knowledgeable and did such a thorough, excellent job – they completely exceeded our expectations!   Working with Byrd Design and Build on our kitchen renovation was an absolute pleasure! The whole process was incredibly smooth and professional – it actually ended up being really enjoyable. From the initial planning stages through to the finished result, the team remained completely dedicated to our project, even with multiple jobs going on simultaneously. The crew was always punctual, incredibly respectful, and patient with all our questions. They really went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything. What was particularly impressive was the level of skill and attention to detail, especially when they tackled the challenging cabinet installation in our old stone house.   Byrd Design and Build truly exceeded my expectations! From start to finish, the team was incredibly professional and their customer service was outstanding. They kept me completely in the loop throughout the entire partial kitchen renovation – which involved everything from demolition and drywall to tile work and electrical – and they always made sure I was thrilled with the progress. Darren Greene, our project manager, was particularly fantastic; his expertise and willingness to go above and beyond were invaluable. They not only listened to my vision, but also offered brilliant design ideas and advice, which you just don’t always get with a standard contractor.   Richard Byrd was my contractor when I was renovating my first home in Maryland, and he was a genuinely pleasant guy to work with. However, my experience wasn’t without significant problems. Shortly after my kitchen was finished, the incredibly expensive cabinets started peeling paint right down to the wood. I contacted Richard, and he suggested I speak to the cabinet supplier, but the supplier was incredibly unhelpful and dismissive. Richard then visited the site and bizarrely blamed the peeling on me splashing water while washing dishes, despite the damage happening on areas far from the sink. Ultimately, I contacted KraftMaid, the manufacturer, who confirmed they were having issues with a particular batch of cabinets. They sent someone out to replace the cabinet fronts free of charge. Adding to the frustration, Richard also installed a brand new Samsung stove that immediately started malfunctioning. Just two years into owning it, the tines of a fork touched the knob and the entire stove shut down. I ended up replacing it with a different stove, but the original installers claimed I didn’t have the necessary electrical supply – even though an electrician had just installed a 220 outlet! It was a really frustrating series of events, and I ultimately left Richard Byrd Design. report abuse

  Overall, I couldn’t be happier with Byrd Design and Build. We hired them to remodel our bathroom in a rowhouse in Canton, and they were fantastic from start to finish. They were incredibly professional – they gave us a really thorough estimate and never pushed us to choose them. They even recommended a previous client to speak with, which gave us a great sense of their quality of work. The whole project was so well-organized, and they kept us constantly updated through an app, so we always knew what was happening. Honestly, the finished bathroom was stunning, and they paid attention to all the little details, truly exceeding our expectations.   “I originally gave Byrd a very low rating back in 2022 after a frustrating experience converting our sunroom. The initial project manager wasn’t great – communication was poor, scheduling was unreliable, and the quality of the work, particularly the drywall, was really disappointing. It felt like a series of missed appointments and substandard workmanship. However, things turned around completely when Byrd reached out and put Jason in charge. He was fantastic – incredibly responsive, professional, and took immediate action to address the issues. Jason quickly created a punch list and arranged for a team to fix everything, and remarkably, they completed the work within the two-day timeframe he promised. The finished product is beautiful, and the team was careful and considerate throughout the process. Because of this vastly improved experience, I’m updating my review to four stars. It’s a testament to Byrd’s willingness to own up to past mistakes and their commitment to customer satisfaction. I absolutely recommend them now – it’s a completely different story than my initial review.” report abuse
