  Honestly, I’m incredibly disappointed with the entire experience. Every time I returned to our San Diego vacation home, I was struck by the poor design choices and, frankly, felt completely misled by Jessica and her team. During the initial consultation, Jessica assured me she’d leverage her designer discounts to save us money, but when I questioned the significantly inflated prices – especially for items purchased at Z Gallery – she became aggressive, even throwing the contract at me and stating she could mark up prices by 30% without discussion. Some items were marked up by over 100%! Adding to the problem, she charged us for time spent calling Z Gallery to try and get discounts, and billed us for extra clerical work that had nothing to do with the actual design. The team only visited the house once to do the design work. It felt like we were being taken advantage of – she even charged us restocking fees for items we refused to keep, despite the company where she bought them telling us there were no such fees. And when I asked for proof of these fees, she refused to provide any receipts. Plus, she wouldn’t address the damaged areas or even patch up holes created by returned items. We ended up accruing thousands in unexpected fees for things like warehouse storage and delivery, which weren't clearly outlined in the contract until we received the final bill. Ultimately, we paid over $150,000 for this project, and it’s left me feeling utterly ripped off. I've had excellent experiences with other designers in the past, and this was by far the worst. report abuse

  Jessica was absolutely fantastic – she truly delivered the HGTV home renovation experience we were hoping for. From the start, she took the lead, creating a stunning transformation for our home in San Diego with remarkably little input from us. We just picked the interior color, and she handled everything else! It was incredible, especially since we were living abroad with a 16-hour time difference. She was incredibly responsive, sending us regular photos of her choices, keeping us fully informed about the budget, and even coordinating access with our renters. When we finally moved back, it felt like we were moving into a completely new, gorgeous home. We were so impressed with all of her contractors – they were all fantastic and clearly took pride in their work. We’ve already recommended Jessica to several friends who’ve seen our remodeled house, and honestly, she turned what could have been a stressful experience into something really fun and exciting. She was also incredibly professional and respectful, and always communicated her expectations clearly, even when things needed adjustments.   “I really want to recommend J Hill Interior Design – they did a fantastic job transforming our condo lobby. It was a really challenging project, though. As part of the Homeowner’s Association Board for a large complex, we had to be incredibly cautious with spending, and there was a lot of pushback about bringing in an interior designer. We’d recently invested in some beautiful new tile flooring, but then we started buying furniture piece by piece without a cohesive plan, which ended up looking like a mismatched mess. The Board was understandably hesitant, and frankly, many of the homeowners had their own strong ideas that didn't quite align with what would benefit the whole community. Jessica from J Hill Interior Design went through a lengthy four-month process to get the final approval for the furniture. Even then, the Board insisted we keep the previously purchased pieces, which I felt was a waste of money. I really believed we should have sold those off and started fresh. Despite the challenges – and the constant scrutiny from residents – Jessica did an absolutely amazing job! She skillfully brought everything together and created a beautiful, unified space. I was honestly blown away by the transformation, and I’m so glad we went with J Hill Interior Design. We’d initially gone with another design firm, but quickly realized they weren’t quite meeting our needs. We recently completed a fantastic project – a stunning redesign of our new 5100 sq ft home in Columbus, Ohio, and it was an absolute pleasure working with them. We moved from our old condo in San Diego – which had originally been decorated by J Hill – and started with just a few pieces of art. Twelve weeks after Jessica’s initial visit, we were hosting a huge family reunion in our beautiful, fully-decorated home, and everyone was absolutely thrilled with the results. From start to finish, they were incredibly professional and thorough, managing the entire $235,000 project – including fixtures, furniture, flooring, window treatments, and painting – perfectly on time and within budget. Jessica and her team offered truly creative and timeless style recommendations, and they had access to an amazing range of suppliers and price points. What really stood out was their hands-on approach, their ability to manage the project remotely while coordinating local installers and suppliers, and their seamless handling of everything from returns to final décor placement.
