This project really missed the mark. The developers seem to have completely disregarded the historic character of the Corktown neighborhood, erecting a jarring cinderblock building they’ve awkwardly dubbed “burnished stone.” Their resistance to neighbor concerns – arguing it resembled existing brick buildings – felt incredibly dismissive and out of touch with the area’s unique context. It’s clear they lacked a strong sense of design sensitivity and didn’t truly consider how their building would fit within the community.
