“Overall, my experience with DBS was frustrating and ultimately led me to choose a much more affordable option. It started with a significant price difference – they quoted $20,000 for insulation, while another local company offered a price of just $4,000. The issue stemmed from several factors. DBS wouldn’t provide a detailed breakdown of the costs to my girlfriend, only responding to her questions through me. When I questioned their pricing and the lack of information on their website regarding minimum project requirements, I received no response. To illustrate the point, I obtained a second opinion and quote, and the discrepancy was clear. While I appreciated Jake’s professionalism and friendliness during the initial consultation, the lack of transparency and unwillingness to discuss individual costs was a major turnoff. It felt like they weren’t open to a simple, standalone project, insisting only on a comprehensive approach, even though I had specific needs. Considering the substantial price difference and the difficulties I encountered, I’d personally choose the $4,000 option.”

“The team really knocked it out of the park – they worked incredibly quickly and everyone was sharing information and helping each other out. I was really impressed with how knowledgeable and helpful everyone was; they answered all my questions thoroughly.”

“I wholeheartedly recommend DBS if you’re dealing with foundation problems. I reached out to several contractors, but none seemed interested in crawl space work – that’s why I was so pleased with DBS. Their galvanized pier and beam system was a fantastic and surprisingly affordable solution, and the team on-site was incredibly knowledgeable and clearly took a lot of pride in their work.”

“The job took longer than expected – about ten days past our initial appointment – due to the weather and a bit of equipment trouble. While I understand that things like rain and breakdowns can cause delays, I was really frustrated by the lack of communication. I had to keep calling to find out where the crew was, and it would have been great if someone had just let me know what was going on and rescheduled if the weather turned bad. Despite that, the two guys who actually did the work were fantastic – really clean, polite, and did a truly excellent job.”

I’m incredibly disappointed with my experience with Duluth. I hired them in May to do a basic 15x15 drop-in ceiling, and it’s now December with a completely unsatisfactory result. The ceiling is bowed and uneven, and frankly, it looks terrible. Worse yet, no one from Duluth has bothered to call me back to discuss it or address my concerns. I’ve even asked to speak to the owner directly, but to no avail. To add insult to injury, they’re now sending me an invoice for the wrong amount. I’ve heard good things about the Duluth region overall, but this was a frustrating experience, especially considering the lack of communication and the poor quality of work. I really need the owner to contact me and resolve this.

“DBS did an amazing job spraying my crawl space, and the guys were both really professional and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them – definitely give them a call if you need this service!”

Overall, I was really pleased with the work done on my basement project. All the crews were fantastic – especially Jake Gilmer, who was incredibly communicative about the issue with the water line and quickly arranged for a plumber to take care of it. It was also great that they went the extra mile and foam-insulated the rim joists, something I’d been wanting to address since I bought the house over 14 years ago. Weston did a fantastic job leveling my sidewalk, and the basement has been completely dry ever since he finished that work, although the weather has made it a little tricky to get back to the caulking.

We couldn’t have been happier with DBS after our first experience, so we turned to them again when we encountered a really complex problem with our cabin. Removing a sidewalk revealed some serious wood rot in the original 1946 structure – the rim joists, wall sills, and beams were in bad shape. Thankfully, we knew we could rely on DBS’s quality work, and we were absolutely right! Jake’s detailed assessment and the open discussion he had with us about the best solutions were fantastic. Trevor and Ethan were an exceptional team; they really went above and beyond, expertly leveling the structure – a particularly tricky task given the circumstances. We’re incredibly pleased and relieved with the outcome and feel confident that our cabin is now solid and ready for future generations. Trevor and Ethan’s customer service was outstanding – always willing to answer our questions and explain everything clearly. We wholeheartedly recommend them – 10 out of 10!

Trevor and Ethan were fantastic – truly a pleasure to work with. They were so responsive, professional, and patient, and they really went above and beyond with their hard work. They handled the challenges with our cottage project exceptionally well.

I’m incredibly disappointed with the work DBS performed on my foundation. They initially came out in 2019 to address a serious issue, costing me $33,000, and the job was fundamentally flawed. They removed key support elements, incorrectly installed the beams, and completely failed to adhere to proper building standards – the spacing between the beams was far too wide, causing significant settling and a clear risk of wall damage. Despite repeated attempts to get them to address these critical issues, they offered vague explanations about “normal settling” and never followed through on promises like removing the vapor barrier or installing a crawl space door. More recently, they charged me an additional $3,600 to fix problems that should have been resolved initially, and the issues have continued to arise. It’s clear they’re cutting corners to maximize profits, and I’m left with a severely compromised foundation and a huge headache. I strongly advise against hiring DBS – their work is substandard, and I’m now forced to seek a completely different solution.
