  I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Family Floor Store – they did a great job on both my cabin floor replacement and a repair for a friend. Erin at the front desk was a real gem – so funny, patient, and incredibly helpful. She let me take home a bunch of samples to look at and never pressured me at all. Seriously, she was fantastic. The installation crew was also top-notch – really knowledgeable, friendly, and got the job done quickly and efficiently. They really helped me pick the perfect flooring and did a truly amazing job.   “My experience at this place was incredibly disappointing. The woman at the desk was exceptionally rude and seemed completely uninterested in assisting us. We arrived with our codes and style numbers, hoping to get samples and arrange an installation, but she was dismissive and made us feel like we were bothering her. It only took five minutes for us to be there, and she clearly didn't want us around. She wouldn’t leave her desk until I specifically asked for information about a sample panel. Honestly, she seemed miserable, and I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. I ended up going to Home Depot instead.” report abuse

  Overall, my experience with Family Floor Store was really disappointing. While Erin was fantastic – incredibly helpful and professional in helping me choose the vinyl plank flooring and setting up the installation, the actual work itself was quite poor. The vinyl flooring installation was noticeably uneven; they were placing identical planks right next to each other, completely missing the point of showcasing the flooring’s pattern variation. Worse still, they installed a couple of screws directly over raised spots in the subfloor, leaving screws now visibly popping up through the new floor – one of them is even in a high-traffic area. It’s honestly the kind of mistake you’d expect from a beginner DIYer, not a professional installer. Adding to the frustration, they initially laid the tile hearth directly on the plywood subfloor – a huge oversight, as tile gets incredibly hot and conducts heat, and should never be installed that way. I had to have them remove and replace it with cement board, which was a major inconvenience. What really sealed the deal, though, was the lack of response from Family Floor after I contacted them about the issues. I received no acknowledgment or apology, which made me feel completely unheard. Given their position as the only full-service flooring store in the Ellsworth/MDI area, they really need to step up their quality control. There's definitely a gap in the market for a flooring company that prioritizes excellent workmanship and stands behind its work. Sadly, I can’t recommend Family Floor Store based on this experience. report abuse
