“Spenard Builders were fantastic to work with. Their consultants were really helpful in designing our new deck with Trex, and we’re extremely happy with the final result. I think they could improve their efficiency by streamlining their pickup process.”

“My wife and I were looking for a specific type of roofing material, and we went to this store hoping to find something similar to what I already had. Unfortunately, the staff were incredibly unhelpful. As soon as we started to explain what we needed, they immediately dismissed our questions with a firm “no.” They didn’t seem interested in understanding our request or offering any solutions. Eventually, we found the exact material we were looking for, but honestly, it just felt like they didn’t want to sell us anything. We decided not to make a purchase – it was clear they weren’t prioritizing customer service.”

“I was really pleased with my experience – the staff were incredibly helpful and offered some great advice on keeping costs down. They had all the materials I needed in stock and at competitive prices, and even went the extra mile by offering to cut a large piece of material to the exact size I needed for transport.”

“I noticed some odd behavior from the security moose – they seemed to be hanging out in an unexpected spot after hours.”

“I usually enjoy shopping at SBS, but my last visit left me pretty disappointed. It seemed like all the customers were wearing masks, yet there weren’t any employees in sight – that felt like a missed opportunity to show they were keeping up with current guidelines. Beyond that, I’ve had inconsistent experiences there. While I’ve encountered some incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff members, I’ve also had frustrating situations, like when I ordered fiberglass entry doors and received metal ones, only to be told I didn’t actually need them without an apology.”

Okay, here’s a natural-sounding evaluation based on the text: “My experience at Spenards was really disappointing. We were immediately ignored by several employees, and then just stood awkwardly waiting to be helped. The one bright spot was a teenage cashier who clearly recognized we were frustrated and apologized for the whole situation – she should definitely be running the place! It was obvious she understood what good customer service is about. After that, we went to Lowe’s, and the contrast was incredible. We were greeted immediately and directed with a helpful attitude. It’s frustrating to support local businesses, but being completely ignored like we were at Spenards is unacceptable. I called the manager afterwards, and while he was polite, it’s clear his staff needs training – a simple acknowledgment of a customer’s needs goes a long way!”

“We chose Spenards in February 2020 hoping to get ahead of the curve on our complex house design. They quickly provided a truss package quote, but when we went to place the order, they immediately informed us of numerous issues and needed to make significant revisions. We ended up waiting months with little to no communication, which seriously delayed our construction timeline. Frustrated with being ignored, we were forced to switch to another company who completed all 158 trusses in just two weeks. Throughout the process, we felt like a constant inconvenience, especially when we tried to use our credit card. As of today, September 26th, we still haven’t received any updates regarding our trusses – it’s been an absolutely terrible experience, and I wouldn’t recommend Spenards to anyone.”

“We had a really frustrating experience with Spenards. Back in 2018, we spent around $6,000 on Alpine windows, and the salesman really hyped them up. Unfortunately, after installing them in our home, they started warping significantly – we measured a quarter-inch gap between the frame and the glass during the winter. We contacted the salesman to file a claim, but despite three years of repeated visits to the store and the same assurances, the windows were never repaired. They even attempted a temporary fix with silicone sealant, which, frankly, was a complete joke and didn’t solve the problem at all. Honestly, we wouldn't recommend going there. The warranty company confirmed our suspicions – these windows are just junk. Spenards seemed pretty upset when we shared that information with them, but it just reinforced our feeling that they’re not providing quality products or good customer service.”

“I was really pleased with the lumber I purchased – it was top quality. The staff were also fantastic, especially Karen, who was incredibly knowledgeable and really helped me with my kitchen design. I’m so excited to finally get it installed!”

“I was looking for new countertops and spoke with a salesperson who didn’t seem particularly helpful. She only showed me two Corian options and quickly tried to push me out the door, quoting me $10,000. It felt like she wasn’t really listening to what I was looking for. I ended up going with McKinley Countertops in Anchorage, and I was so much happier with their service. They gave me a much better price – $8,000 including installation – and offered me a huge selection of colors and Corian options. They even came to my home to measure and were willing to give me a price break if I paid with a check. Honestly, they really went above and beyond!”
