  I couldn’t be happier with the work Hawkins did on my floors! They were really worn and faded, and after researching local companies, I decided to call them. Carl, the president, came out to assess the situation, took accurate measurements, and clearly explained the refinishing process. I received a detailed estimate and next steps via email, and within a couple of weeks, “Super Mario” got to work. He completely transformed two bedrooms, the staircase, living room, den, kitchen, and dining room – all in just six days! Mario is incredibly skilled and professional; he kept me constantly updated, answered all my questions, and even offered helpful advice on maintaining the new floors.   Overall, we were really pleased with Hawkins Flooring. Beau and Tony, the installers, were fantastic – they were punctual, incredibly respectful of our home, and just really professional and courteous. They paid a lot of attention to detail, which you don’t always get with the bigger stores. While the initial price was similar to what we’d seen at the big box stores, the added costs for the installation with Hawkins were well worth it; they did a truly excellent job replacing our old floors and carpeting. report abuse

  “I was absolutely thrilled with the new Karndean flooring Hawkins installed upstairs – three bedrooms and the hallway. They really went the extra mile with the designs too; I had parquet, large rectangles, and even a beautifully blocked chevron pattern in each room. It was a lot of intricate work with lots of different colors, and honestly, it looked incredible. Mason, the installer, was truly amazing – he’s a real craftsman! My upstairs now looks like it belongs in a magazine. I was so grateful for his skill and attention to detail. It was a bit of a tricky project, especially with Hawkins being closed for so long due to the pandemic – I put my deposit down just as Maryland went into lockdown. But thankfully, I was patient and waited four months, and the result is absolutely stunning. My only feedback would be about communication with Carl Hawkins himself; keeping me updated would have been appreciated. However, despite that, I got a fantastic floor and Mason really delivered.   Honestly, my experience with Hawkins Floor was incredibly frustrating. I hired them for a $30,000 job – removing old tile and carpet, installing new hardwood, and refinishing everything – and the project dragged on for over eight weeks, starting July 31st and not finishing until the first of October. Communication was a huge problem; the office and the owner were consistently difficult to reach, and it felt like no one was really in charge. They’d give me a schedule, but it was never followed, and they’d show up whenever they wanted. There was no oversight of the crews, and they kept changing, which made everything even more chaotic. The finished floor itself is okay, but the quality of the work is really disappointing. They rushed the job, ripping up the shoe moulding and leaving a huge amount of trim needing touch-ups. The refinishing of the stairs and railings was particularly bad – spots were left unsanded, the stain wasn’t applied evenly, and it smeared onto the white trim. They did come back to fix some of it, but frankly, I’m underwhelmed. Given the quality of the work, I’m left with a lot of extra work to do myself. Looking back, I spent most of the time chasing them down and trying to get things done. I would strongly advise anyone considering them to explore other options – it was a significant headache for me. report abuse
