  I was incredibly shaken this morning while walking with my dog on that narrow road. A loader was driving at an alarming speed – far exceeding the 15 mph limit – and came within just two feet of me and my dog. It was a terrifying experience, and frankly, infuriating. I contacted Hawaiian Dredging, but was just left on hold. It’s unacceptable that they don't seem to prioritize safety, especially considering the risk of nearly being struck by a loader bucket while pedestrians are present on a public road. I’m seriously concerned about the lack of attention to safety and the potential for a serious accident. report abuse

  I was incredibly moved by an experience I had recently with Wes Asao, the senior project manager at Hawaiian Dredging. It really highlighted the kind of leadership that makes a company truly great. I was just passing by one of their construction sites downtown when I had a bad accident – a piece of material fell off and blew out my tire, my fifth in a week! Facing a tough situation with my disability and mounting debt, I went to the site to ask about the material and was met with some confusion. But Wes stepped in immediately. He didn’t argue about blame or responsibility; he simply saw that I was in a difficult spot and took it upon himself to help. He not only ensured I got to the tire shop for both replacements, but he calmed me down and reassured me when I was feeling completely lost. It was such a genuine act of compassion, and something I’ll never forget. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Wes and Hawaiian Dredging for demonstrating the kind of leadership that truly matters.
