  We were extremely disappointed with this project. It felt like a fundamentally flawed approach – the engineering seemed to completely disregard local context. There was no investigation of the area, no conversations with residents about the history of the slide or current issues, and the company aggressively pushed for paving a section of the road without any local support. Frankly, it felt like a deceptive tactic selling paving to FEMA as a solution to a landslide when the problem was simply material accumulating on the road. The core issue – a lack of turnarounds – was ignored, and the extensive $1.5 million project added unnecessary design features that didn’t address real problems. Adding to the frustration, the project management was terrible. The lengthy road closures, particularly during peak tourist season, caused significant disruption to residents’ lives, and the whole process felt like a waste of taxpayer money. It’s clear they didn’t consider the impact on the community, and we hope this company learns to prioritize gathering information and understanding the needs of the people they’re working for in the future. report abuse
