  I was really disappointed with the work this company did insulating my apartment building as part of the Mass Saves program. They did a shockingly poor job – there’s glue all over the porch walls and they haphazardly reattached the wood panels, even breaking some of my belongings and covering it up instead of being upfront about it. To make matters worse, the job took three days instead of the promised one, and they blasted music throughout the entire process, disrupting our work from home. I’m finding more and more issues as I inspect the insulation, and honestly, I’d strongly advise anyone considering this service to avoid this company. The constant emails and calls from Mass Saves are irritating, but it’s worth ignoring them to avoid this experience. report abuse

  We were so pleased with our recent experience with Polar Bear Insulation. Following a Mass Save assessment, they completely transformed our home’s energy efficiency! The team – Peter, Steve, and Curtis – were absolutely fantastic; they were professional, really friendly, and clearly experts in what they do. They not only sealed our attic, added new insulation and a gable vent, but also took the extra step of building a handy catwalk for future access. They were incredibly careful, protecting our home with tarps and plastic throughout the whole process. They initially scheduled a single day, but they quickly identified some areas needing extra attention, specifically with our wall insulation. They were so responsive, coming back within just five days to complete the work thoroughly. The team was incredibly friendly, professional, and kept the house spotless – they even cleaned up any mess they made. Their crew chief was particularly helpful, explaining everything in detail and answering all my questions.   “I’ve been working with contractors over the past eight months while owning my home, and honestly, Polar Bear was by far the best experience I’ve had. I was connected through Mass Save, which meant there were already some extra steps involved, but Peter and his team handled everything so smoothly. Peter was fantastic – he arrived early to assess the job, identified some things the initial audit missed, and immediately worked with Mass Save to ensure everything was done correctly, taking all the hassle out of it for me. On the day of the work, James and his crew were absolutely professional, incredibly efficient, and really took the time to explain what they were doing. They were so considerate too, pushing all the indoor work to the next day so we could get the kids out of the house, and even taking their lunch break while I had a meeting – it made a huge difference. James even went above and beyond by helping me move a heavy TV! I can’t comment on the pricing itself, as it was handled through Mass Save, but the quality of their work was outstanding. Peter, the guy I spoke with on the phone, was incredibly professional and knowledgeable. Scheduling the work was a breeze, and the team – Zach, Max, and the rest – were truly respectful of our home, laying down protective coverings and meticulously covering all our furniture before starting.   “Peter, James, Frankie (and possibly Freddy!) were absolutely fantastic – truly a pleasure to have working on our roof. They were so professional, friendly, and clearly very skilled. They explained everything so well throughout the whole process, and answered all of our questions without hesitation. They were incredibly efficient, arriving a little before 8am and finishing up around 3 or 4pm. We were particularly impressed that they took such care, saving all the old shingles and putting them back perfectly – you’d never know they’d been removed! And the biggest difference is the temperature in our house is so much better now, it’s so much easier to keep comfortable. It was a little frustrating to wait several weeks for the appointment, but honestly, it was completely worth it – a truly wonderful experience!” report abuse

  Overall, I was really pleased with the work Polar Bear did for my MassSave project. They were a nice team to work with and the work itself was pretty clean, especially considering the challenges of blowing in the insulation while protecting my AC unit. They tackled some tricky issues like the improperly installed vent fan and the need to remove the old insulation efficiently. I’d definitely recommend them and plan to use their services again in the future. report abuse
