“I spent several years working on projects for Kiewit, including the Cove Point LNG, Birdsboro Power, Hickory Run, and Blue Water Energy plants. While I generally respected Kiewit as a contractor, my experience at Blue Water Energy was quite challenging. Specifically, I had serious concerns about the supervision provided by a superintendent named Rich Tomlinson. Rich seemed to lack a solid understanding of the technical aspects of the job, and he repeatedly directed the team to use inappropriate and outdated methods, like beating stainless steel pipe with a sledgehammer – a practice that's completely unprofessional. There were numerous instances where he insisted on this approach, despite our team’s expertise and the availability of proper tools. It was incredibly frustrating to witness and ultimately led to a breakdown in communication and a negative experience. Because of this, I no longer work for Kiewit and wouldn’t consider it again. Rich’s approach represents a concerning lack of professionalism, and I believe it’s crucial to prioritize skilled, modern techniques in the construction industry.”
