Overall, the modular second story we had built in Richmond was a time-saver once it arrived, but the 14-month delivery wait was a huge issue. We definitely recommend hiring your own architect – it’s a really big investment, and having another set of eyes on the plans would have been invaluable. Once we got started, the actual construction took about four months. We ended up paying around $300 per square foot, acting as our own general contractor for the final week. We’d likely use them again, but we’d insist on a clause in the contract that protects us against extended delivery delays.

Honestly, we couldn't be more thrilled with the incredible work David and Adam at Carbide did on our home. They almost doubled the size of our 1940s Cape Cod with a modular build, and the finished result is absolutely stunning. Renovating a house is a huge undertaking, and we were understandably nervous, but David and Adam guided us through every step with such patience and expertise. They answered all our questions – and believe me, there were a lot! – and offered really thoughtful advice throughout the design, financing, and construction phases. What really stood out was their attention to detail; they caught things we never would have noticed ourselves. But beyond the beautiful house, what truly sets Carbide apart is the people. David and Adam are genuinely good guys – honest, ethical, and you can absolutely trust them. They kept us fully informed about costs and potential challenges, and we never once worried about the quality of their work. It really felt like having family working on our home. If you're considering a modular build, I wholeheartedly recommend Carbide. Just a few things to keep in mind: Don't hesitate to ask lots of questions – they're busy managing multiple projects – and be prepared for disruption during the build. It's a significant process, but with Carbide, you can absolutely do it!

David and his team did an absolutely fantastic job adding onto our house. From the initial consultation right through to the finished project, we really appreciated his professionalism and dedication. It was clear he genuinely cares about his clients and takes pride in the quality of his work – he’s a trustworthy and hardworking contractor.
-
Overall, my experience with Carbide Construction was really positive. I especially appreciated working with the owner – he was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire project. I’m thrilled with the final result and would absolutely consider them again for future work.
-
I was really disappointed with my interaction with David. I contacted the company to discuss the feasibility of staying within my budget for the project, and he responded in a remarkably dismissive way. Instead of exploring options with me, he essentially shut down the conversation by making a condescending comment about the price – suggesting he wasn't interested in a project for that amount. His tone felt incredibly rude and unprofessional.

“Thanks so much for the feedback – really appreciate you taking the time to rate it!”
