While I haven’t personally worked with them on a solar project yet, the free 24/7 EV charging is fantastic – it’s great to see a solar company offering such a convenient and eco-friendly service.   I couldn’t be happier with my new solar system – it’s been a truly fantastic experience! From the very beginning, I knew I needed both solar panels and a battery to ensure reliable power, especially given the potential for grid outages in New Orleans. After researching extensively, I chose Sun Power panels and a Tesla Powerwall, recognizing their top performance and durability. South Coast Solar, and particularly their CTO Scott Oman, were incredible. I contacted them through their website, and within a day, Scott was at my home with a detailed analysis of my roof and potential solar solutions. He was so knowledgeable and patient, explaining all the options and costs involved – it was a completely pressure-free consultation. The installation team – led by Bo and his crew, Charles & Dylan – were phenomenal. They were incredibly professional, efficient, and communicated effectively throughout the process. It was clear they were highly skilled and took great care. The whole process, from initial consultation to the final installation, was surprisingly smooth. The Tesla Powerwall’s Stormwatch feature alone is worth the investment; it automatically switched to backup mode during Tropical Storm Barry, ensuring my family and I didn’t lose power.   South Coast Solar was absolutely fantastic – they were the only company that truly understood my needs and got the job done right. I initially had them install a 14-panel array about ten years ago, and they immediately pointed out that I had a lot more roof space that would work well with solar. I expanded my system with a second array of 30 panels thanks to their advice, and I’ve been thrilled with the lower electricity bills ever since. When I was ready to add a Tesla Powerwall, South Coast Solar was invaluable. Another company offered to be my point of contact, but their sales rep was completely unreliable, and I ended up going back to SCS. Scott quickly assessed my situation, recognizing the potential for a great discount on two Powerwalls, and he provided me with a clear, reasonable quote. They even accommodated my request to install the Powerwalls in my alley, which was a huge relief given the limited space on my house. Honestly, the whole experience was so different from what I'd encountered with other companies. They were incredibly communicative, explaining every step of the process and letting me make the decisions. It was clear they were genuinely invested in my satisfaction. They even activated the system before the final inspection, which was a lifesaver given the approaching hurricane!   I’m incredibly disappointed with my experience with this company. We signed a contract back in March, and the process has been a complete nightmare. There was a very long delay getting the solar panels installed, and once they were finally put on the roof, things went downhill fast. The North Carolina county inspector rejected the installation over a month ago, and I’ve been trying to get in touch with Robert and Charros to find out when the inspection will be passed – with no success; they haven’t returned my calls or texts. It’s frustrating to feel like I’ve been completely ignored. Currently, the panels are just sitting there unused, and I’m still responsible for my electricity bill and loan payments, despite not being able to use the solar system. Honestly, I'm questioning the positive reviews I’ve seen. The owner did recently reach out and said they’re working on getting the inspection done and offered to reimburse me for lost production, but I’m still anxiously waiting to see how this situation resolves itself. report abuse

  South Coast’s problems are undoubtedly complicated by the challenges of the past few years – COVID, staffing shortages, and hurricane delays. While I acknowledge these factors have impacted their business, my experience was shockingly unprofessional and consistently lacking in communication. For nearly a year, it was nearly impossible to reach anyone, whether by phone, email, or text. Multiple team members, including “Operations Assistants,” were completely unresponsive. It became a running joke that one of them wasn’t even a real person. Adding to the frustration, the installation itself was chaotic, culminating in damage to multiple appliances. Despite the numerous issues and lengthy delays, the only department that responded effectively was sales, who quickly covered the costs of the damage. Frankly, the entire experience was a disaster, demonstrating a profound disregard for my time, my money, and my peace of mind. I deeply regret my decision to use South Coast, and I strongly advise anyone considering them to look elsewhere – you’ll save yourself a tremendous amount of stress and heartache. report abuse

Even better, I was able to resolve it myself – no service call needed!
