  “We hired Rafael Davila for a home design project, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. Rafael spent a significant amount of time with us, reviewing designs, gathering the necessary surveys and documents. However, he then completely stopped responding to our calls and emails – he simply vanished. We followed up repeatedly, but received no communication whatsoever. After this review was posted, Rafael contacted us offering only excuses and asking us to take it down, which was completely unacceptable. Frankly, the timeline he presented seemed inaccurate and misleading. It’s clear there was no concrete offer of pricing or a genuine effort to address our concerns.   “I hired Nova Design Builders in July 2022 to remodel my one-bedroom condominium, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly frustrating and riddled with problems. The project was initially estimated to take 6-8 weeks, but as of mid-March, it was still far from completion. Throughout the process, I encountered significant issues. There were often no workers present in my unit, and when they were, the quality of their work was seriously lacking. For example, the bathroom sink was installed incorrectly, and the air conditioning unit was delivered with dirty, unusable filters. Beyond these immediate problems, Nova failed to provide any clear timeline or milestones. I ended up spending $350 on a hotel stay because they couldn’t meet the agreed-upon schedule. The workmanship itself was substandard – the shower didn’t drain properly, the grout job was messy and poorly executed, and they routinely skipped standard installation practices like using plumber’s tape. Adding to the difficulties, Nova presented a surprise $3,400 “change order” for a lighting system without my approval or knowledge, and they damaged items like my stovetop and Google Nest thermostat. I’ve incurred over $7,400 in remediation costs to fix the issues they created, including the cost of replacing damaged items and having a licensed professional address the fundamental problems with the installation. They’ve now filed a lien against me for $5,000, which I strongly dispute due to their poor workmanship and failure to manage the project effectively.” report abuse

  “We were really pleased with the work Augusto and his team from Nova Design Builders did on our condo! We needed to install new walls and, because it required permits, we carefully vetted several licensed contractors. We quickly realized that others were either drastically inflating their prices or outright misleading us about what was possible – one even told us windows at the top of the walls weren’t an option unless we repainted the entire ceiling, which turned out to be completely untrue. From the moment we met Augusto, we appreciated his honest and professional communication, and we immediately felt confident in his team. Augusto has been incredibly responsive, keeping us fully informed every step of the way and answering all our questions promptly. The quality of the work itself was outstanding – they executed the project perfectly, without any unexpected price increases, and they were fantastic about cleaning up afterward. They even navigated a tricky condo property manager for us! Honestly, we couldn’t recommend Augusto and Nova Design Builders enough.
