  “Overall, our experience with this builder was really disappointing. While the initial conversations and the representative seemed professional, things quickly escalated when they demanded a huge increase in our budget – the exact same reason the previous buyers were rejected. It felt incredibly frustrating and inflexible. We did receive all the documents S9 provided, and appreciated that they kept us informed through our agent. We were thankful we got a clear understanding of the costs involved. However, we absolutely won’t be working with a builder offering a locked-in agreement like that again. We’ve already moved on to another property, and we really want to emphasize the importance of open communication and flexibility. It’s crucial to understand how these agreements work from the customer’s perspective – you’d certainly want the same consideration.” report abuse

  “From the very beginning, Sustainable 9 was incredibly responsive – Chad, one of the owners, got back to us within just 30 minutes of our initial message. We really connected with Chad’s passion for sustainable building and his unique aesthetic, and we were thrilled to tour his newest construction project that same week. Chad went above and beyond, diligently searching for land that matched our needs, and his communication was fantastic. He truly listened to what we were looking for and presented us with properties that were a perfect fit. Even when he showed us a stunning property that was significantly over our budget, we knew we had to see it, and thankfully, we couldn’t resist! Working with Unfold Architect and their incredible design and project management team was the icing on the cake. They took our vision for a home overlooking Minneapolis and Bde Maka Ska and brought it to life with beautiful, custom finishes. Our designer was absolutely phenomenal – she completely transformed our house, and honestly, it was like stepping onto an HGTV show! Her attention to detail and understanding of our style moved us to tears. Throughout the entire two-year build (which, let’s be honest, was during a challenging time with high prices and limited labor), our Project Manager kept everything running smoothly, holding everyone to the highest standards. He was always available to address any concerns, and we appreciated his proactive approach.   Overall, we’ve come to really love this area – the neighbors, the schools, and the beautiful land have made us want to put down roots here. Honestly, the house itself isn't our favorite, but we’ve made it our own. Over the last decade, we’ve unfortunately faced a constant stream of expensive repairs and renovations. It seems like Sustainable 9 LLC patched things up with temporary fixes like a poorly ventilated HVAC system and a roof issue that led to frost in the attic. There were also problems with the electrical wiring, inadequate basement insulation, and water damage – and the paint was just a quick, cheap way to cover everything up. The final straw was the paperwork needed to finalize the deed; it was completely disorganized, and we’re now facing a $100 expense and a lot of extra time trying to get it sorted out. report abuse
