“I really appreciated how helpful and informative everyone was – I just needed a small amount of T&G bead board for a project, and they were fantastic. I especially valued the expert advice I received and learned a few new things. It’s wonderful to be able to continue shopping at the same place where my old house originally bought its lumber; it’s a really nice feeling! I’ll definitely be back for more soon.”

“I’ve been really impressed with this place. I’ve always found them quick and efficient when I’ve needed supplies, and their lumber selection is fantastic – they have so much variety, including some really beautiful, unique live-cut pieces that are perfect for furniture projects, plus a great range of sizes, even some really long lengths. The on-site cutting service is a huge plus too. And, being a Milwaukee shop, the tools are top-notch; if I needed something specific, I’d go to a big box store, but I’ve been really happy with the Milwaukee products. I’ll definitely be back this summer for my next projects!”

“I’m a local business owner and I truly value supporting Siwek Lumber & Millwork. They’ve been an absolute lifesaver for me on countless occasions – seriously, they’ve gone above and beyond! They’re incredibly knowledgeable and willing to track down even unusual parts and hardware. The quality of their lumber and millwork is fantastic, and what really sets them apart is the genuine, friendly service – it feels like a small, community-focused operation. Okay, I’ll admit, they can get busy and things sometimes take a little longer, but honestly, you just have to accept that when you’re getting personalized service. I’ve noticed that some of the negative reviews seem to focus on complaints rather than praise, and I always check with Siwek first, even if I could find something cheaper elsewhere. It’s important to me to support local businesses, and Siwek is a fantastic example of what a strong community business can be.”

Overall, I had a fantastic experience building my shed with Siwek’s Lumber. As a first-time DIYer, I was a little nervous going to the lumberyard, but everyone was so helpful and patient. Tom, Jason, and Matt were absolutely wonderful – they really took the time to walk me through the samples and even offered some great suggestions on building the window and choosing the right hardware. I appreciated their detailed feedback and felt completely supported. The delivery process was smooth too; I had two additional orders delivered the next day as promised. And when I had leftover materials, they happily took them back for a full refund. The finished shed looks beautiful! I did have one slightly negative interaction with an older gentleman on the phone, but I think he was just having a tough day. Despite that, Siwek’s was significantly cheaper than the big box store, even though it’s a little further away. I highly recommend them!

“I had a really frustrating experience ordering cedar siding from this company. Because I live so far away – about two hours – and they don't even carry cedar in Duluth, I ended up buying over $300 worth of siding to replace some boards on my house. Unfortunately, the 1x10 boards were too narrow by a quarter inch, so I contacted them and they thankfully agreed to a return. Still needing siding, I provided them with my own measurements, and they promised to custom-make the pieces. However, I never heard back, and when I called again, I just got the runaround. It took another two weeks, and I had to make a five-hour drive with a sample, only to be told they were ‘getting to it.’ It seems like the people handling my order weren’t being upfront with me, and it was a lot of wasted time and effort.”

I’m really disappointed with my recent experiences here. I’ve been a customer a few times in the last couple of weeks and it’s concerning that I rarely saw staff members wearing masks, especially considering the current mask mandate for businesses. It felt like they weren't taking the safety of their customers and the wider community seriously. While I’m not overly worried about myself, the sheer number of COVID deaths – over 356,000 in the US – makes it clear that simple precautions like wearing masks are really important. Because of this, I’m finding it difficult to want to return and I question whether they deserve any support from the government if they aren’t prioritizing public health. It's a really simple fix – just wear a mask – and I hope they’ll address this issue moving forward.

“I was really disappointed with this experience. I contacted them for a quote on windows and doors, but after waiting and following up multiple times – including two phone calls – I never received an estimate. It seems they’re incredibly busy and simply haven’t had time to respond. Honestly, it felt like my time was wasted, and I’m concerned that without a basic estimate, I wouldn’t receive the level of service I expect for the entire project.”

“They have a really good range of hardwoods, with plenty of options available whether you need them rough-cut or already surfaced. I appreciated the long hours they’re open. However, the prices were significantly higher than what I’ve seen elsewhere in the area – I’ve found similar wood for half the cost at other local suppliers.”

“I was looking for some 1/8 plywood and unfortunately, the selection was really disappointing. Almost all of the pieces they had in stock were cracked and in pretty rough shape. It was also surprisingly difficult to find someone to assist me, mainly because the items weren’t clearly labeled. While they did offer a decent price on what I could locate, the overall quality of the plywood was quite low.”
