To make matters worse, their security cameras completely failed to detect a break-in at my property where someone stole a valuable gun. Adding insult to injury, when I tried to cancel my service, they demanded an outrageous $1100 cancellation fee – a price that seems designed to penalize customers. It’s completely unacceptable and frankly, feels like a scam. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone.”

                                        “I’ve been using ADT for a long time, but honestly, it’s become more of a hassle than it’s worth. I’m constantly dealing with false alarms – one zone keeps triggering the alarm, waking me up throughout the night, even when the business is open. The recent repair was frustrating too; it took nearly an hour on the phone to get a new door sensor installed and charged $59. It’s disappointing to find the panel left in such a state after that kind of wait.”

While the hardware seemed fine, the monitoring app just wouldn’t work, and the technician couldn’t resolve the access issues – it wasn’t his area of expertise, unfortunately. I was really frustrated because I couldn’t get it fixed quickly. To add to the problem, I was then told I couldn’t cancel the service because of the time that had passed since installation. It feels like I’m stuck with a three-year contract for a service that isn’t even working, and I’m really hoping we can find a solution.”

I contacted them simply to get a quote on a security system, and the sales representative immediately ran my credit score – despite my clear request not to do so. Because of this initial breach of trust, my husband and I will absolutely not be using their services. It was a really unsettling experience, and frankly, I don’t believe anything they say. The constant callbacks without any time to discuss options felt incredibly rushed and disrespectful. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend ADT to anyone based on this interaction alone.”

We signed a three-year contract with the understanding that we could have the contract waived if we needed to move for my husband’s medical training. We successfully completed two years without any issues, but when we had to relocate to a new state for his job, ADT hit us with an incredibly high cancellation fee – and we weren’t even informed about this charge beforehand. We spent over two hours on the phone trying to resolve it, but they refused to waive it. Honestly, the customer service was incredibly frustrating, and we’ll definitely be advising all our friends and family to avoid ADT.”

                                        “I’ve been an ADT customer since 2021, and overall I’m happy with the system’s performance – the cameras work well, though they can be a little blurry in direct sunlight. However, I recently tried to upgrade my service with a Nest doorbell and outdoor cameras, and I was really disappointed with the customer service. When I spoke with Rodriguez, he insisted that I needed PoE cables, despite the fact that Nest cameras are battery-powered and I couldn’t install them. He simply hung up on me. Because of this frustrating experience, I’m now switching to Ring, and will be paying for both ADT and Ring until my contract ends in 2024.”

We purchased their security system as part of our new home, and while the initial installation and training were helpful, things quickly went wrong. We signed up for a three-year contract without fully considering the commitment, and now we’re stuck with a system that barely works. For nearly a year, our QOLSYS panel has been malfunctioning – the touchscreen doesn’t always respond, making it impossible to disable the alarm. We’ve had multiple technicians out to address the issue, and while they’ve tried various solutions, including replacing the panel and the power cord, nothing has resolved the problem. It’s incredibly frustrating to pay for a service we can’t actually use. Despite our repeated attempts to cancel the contract – which is essentially impossible due to the lengthy terms – we’ve only received minimal compensation, like a couple of free months of monitoring. It feels like ADT is deliberately delaying the cancellation process. We’re paying for a service that’s effectively useless, and we strongly advise against choosing ADT.”

After my father passed away, I was still receiving charges for a service he’d stopped paying through automatic withdrawals. To my shock, they’d simply added my name to an account for a property I’ve never lived at and had no knowledge of. I tried to cancel the account, but was repeatedly placed on hold for hours – I spent over two hours waiting – and ultimately ignored. I spoke with Stacy and KiKi during this time. It’s completely unacceptable to be treated this way, especially considering ADT claims to have a 140-year history! Honestly, it’s hard to take their claims seriously when they’ve been monitoring homes since 1871 – how were they protecting homes back then? I would strongly advise anyone considering ADT to look at alternative security systems.”

                                        “I had an absolutely terrible experience with ADT. From the start, they got my address completely wrong, which led to a completely inaccurate contract. It took multiple calls and confirmations just to get the address corrected, and even then, I was repeatedly told it was correct. To add to the frustration, the local installers were over two hours away when another office was just 30 minutes away. What really made things worse was the high-pressure sales tactic used by the technicians in my home – they seemed determined to push every possible add-on and try to take advantage of me. The customer service was incredibly frustrating, with endless hold times and difficulty getting through to anyone. The motion sensor never worked, and after the technicians were late for installation and then realized they’d scheduled a repair that they missed, I was stuck fighting to cancel the whole service. It took a full hour on hold and even more phone calls to finally get them to remove the equipment from my house. Honestly, it was a horrible experience from beginning to end, and I’ll never use ADT again.”

While the dispatch team was genuinely friendly and helpful over the phone, the system itself is completely unreliable and frankly, terrifying. I’ve been burglarized four times – twice while I was pregnant and once when my baby was just five months old. Each time, the police response was painfully slow, taking over an hour to arrive. I was initially promised immediate response with dispatch arriving within 15 minutes, but that never happened. Honestly, it’s far better to invest in your own security system with cameras and monitoring – you’d get far faster response times and have full control. I ended up paying a similar price for a system that actually worked. If you’re looking for real peace of mind and a way to protect your family and home, this isn’t the solution. Please, prioritize your safety.”
