I was really disappointed with my recent experience. From the start, the staff seemed completely uninterested in providing attentive service – I watched other customers receive much better attention while I was left waiting and had to practically ask to be seated. After that, it took weeks to get a simple door ordered for over $8,000, and despite making numerous calls, no one ever came to take measurements or even provide an update. The staff member, Ken, particularly stood out as being completely out of his element when dealing with customers; it was clear he wasn't comfortable or invested in the interaction. And to top it off, the credit card fees were shockingly high. Overall, it felt incredibly impersonal and unprofessional.

Marshall’s lumber yard is okay if you’re just looking for some wood beyond plywood, they do have a decent selection. However, the quality of the wood – like the walnut, which was incredibly rough – was pretty poor. They didn’t seem interested in offering anything properly squared off, and the staff were quite unhelpful and didn’t offer any advice. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, and to top it off, they charge an unusual credit card fee.

This project really stood out – the selection of woods was fantastic, and it was clear they’ve invested in a top-of-the-line millwork facility. Beyond the quality of the materials and workmanship, I was also really impressed with the custom service; it’s great to see a family-owned and operated business taking such a personal approach.

“I’ve been consistently impressed with this place. They’re the only millwork supplier I use, whether I’m working on a new construction project or renovating an older home. I especially appreciate their knowledge and the way they’ve helped me source everything from 20-foot LVL beams to custom-cut trim pieces. Seriously, if you need something they don’t stock at the big box stores, you’ll find it here!”
-
“I was really pleased to find these guys – they had exactly the trim mouldings I needed to help me update my house while still preserving its original character.”
-
“This lumber yard is a real gem! If you’re looking for something specific, like a particular grade of maple or a precise thickness like 1 1/5 inches, it’s the first place I go. It’s great to have a place in Alabama that offers options you just don’t find at the big box stores.”
-
“The gentleman at the counter was incredibly helpful – he really went above and beyond to assist me in finding the specific screws and bolts I needed for my project.”
-
Marshall Lumber seems like a really great option for someone who knows their wood and needs a straightforward, no-frills place to get supplies. They’ve clearly got a huge selection and seem happy to handle just about any order – perfect for seasoned woodworkers.
-
“I was really disappointed with my visit to the store today. I went in looking for a specific part, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get any assistance finding it. The customer service was quite poor.”
-
“The customer service here is consistently excellent – truly top-notch!”
