FMI’s Arizona operations – they own and run five copper and two molybdenum mines – are a really important part of the state’s economy, which is why their headquarters is based in Phoenix. I have a lot of respect for the roughly 13,000 American workers they employ. Now, let’s be honest, their mines aren’t exactly pristine, and they don’t always prioritize the most stringent environmental protections or employee safety. Despite that, the company generates billions in profits each year. It’s just frustrating that when they cause significant environmental damage, the fines they receive – usually between $1 and $10 million – feel disproportionately small. There have also been some past issues with sales practices and conflicts of interest that have cost them a substantial amount, upwards of $135 million. It’s a mixed bag, but with operations in Bagdad and their international mines, I think they’ll likely continue to operate. report abuse

“Honestly, it was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. We were seated immediately, but then we were completely ignored for about 20 minutes – no one checked on us. Eventually, we just gave up and left. It was incredibly frustrating that no one approached our table to see if everything was okay.” report abuse

Seriously, this is a confusing and ultimately unhelpful suggestion. It seems like there’s a misunderstanding about copper electrowinning – it’s a perfectly valid and established process for producing copper. Let’s move on to a more concrete discussion of the topic. report abuse

This company’s hiring process was incredibly frustrating and, frankly, disorganized. It took an excessive amount of time – nearly four months – just to complete the medical requirements, including weeks-long background checks and a lengthy process with Gila Health Resources that ultimately put me on a 90-day medical hold. Adding to the stress, I received last-minute I-9 forms and discovered the orientation was spread over three days with minimal support for housing. Given the company’s reported daily revenue, it’s shocking they couldn’t manage a smoother process. It seems they prioritize profit over their employees' well-being, as evidenced by the overwhelming number of contractors compared to full-time staff. Don’t be swayed by the hourly wage; it’s not worth the financial strain and uncertainty. I ended up accumulating significant medical debt during this process, and I strongly advise anyone considering this opportunity to save up a substantial amount of money beforehand. Honestly, a job at a fast-food restaurant would likely be a less stressful and more reliable experience. report abuse
