Honestly, our experience with HFC was incredibly frustrating. While they were good at getting us excited about buying our new home, the problems started immediately after the sale. We really wish we’d insisted on getting everything in writing, because they kept twisting things and relying on fine print to shift the blame. The house wasn’t cleaned before we took possession – there was still construction debris everywhere, and the basement was a disaster with dried mud and debris. To add to it, they refused to complete the stairwell to the lower level, telling us it was our responsibility. We were left with unfinished steps and walls that were only partially painted. Getting them to address any issues through warranty work is a nightmare; you’ll constantly get the runaround, and they’ll always claim it’s not their fault. Because most of the work is subcontracted, we ended up dealing with multiple sub-contractors, leading to significant delays – including a two-month delay due to inadequate rebar in the basement foundation. Even worse, our air exchanger hasn’t worked for months, and they simply directed us to contact the subcontractor. We invested a considerable amount – around $35,000 – in their heating/air-conditioning/plumbing package, but the quality of their work was consistently poor. We’ve had to do a lot of repairs ourselves, or pay someone else to fix them. I would strongly advise against using HFC; you’ll likely encounter a whole host of problems and headaches.

“I had a really disappointing experience with Deb and their modular homes. I found her to be quite difficult to communicate with, and she reacted very rudely when I asked questions. Also, I’m concerned about the rising prices and the apparent decline in quality of their homes.”

Overall, it was a really positive experience visiting the pre-owned homes. The sellers were fantastic – completely relaxed and not pushy at all. It was great that we could explore at our own pace and really discuss what we liked and didn’t like about each house without feeling pressured. They were always available in the office if we had any questions, which made the whole process feel much more comfortable and open. I’d definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a less formal and more personal experience.

“Ron was fantastic – it was really great to see the inventory and chat with him about the homes. I especially appreciated how customizable they are; it’s wonderful to be able to tailor a home to your specific needs and wants, and I was really impressed that each property could be modified for wheelchair accessibility.”
