  I was really concerned about what I witnessed on March 9th at around 7:20 AM on the 805 South freeway near Imperial Ave in San Diego. I observed a white, heavy-duty truck belonging to their company emitting a significant amount of smoke, which was clearly polluting the air. My daughter and I could smell the strong, unpleasant fumes for quite some time afterward. It was a disturbing sight and doesn’t reflect well on the company. report abuse

  “I was incredibly disappointed with our experience. It mirrored another reviewer’s concerns – they were hired to repave our streets, but the work didn’t start until 90 minutes after the initially announced date, and they used a really aggressive and unsettling method of checking for parked cars, banging on our door and ringing repeatedly. The worker seemed completely dismissive of my concerns. While I appreciate wanting to ensure vehicles aren't disrupting the work, the way this was handled was completely unprofessional and frankly, quite alarming. And when I contacted management, I received a very unhelpful response. It’s clear there needs to be a significant change in how these kinds of checks are carried out.” report abuse

  I’m incredibly disappointed with the service I received from American Asphalt South. After a single hour following their work across the street, my car arrived back with a bizarre, asphalt-covered dent in the hood – a damage that clearly wasn’t caused by a typical collision. The lack of any communication, combined with the supervisor’s dismissive reaction and laughter, was completely unacceptable. It’s deeply concerning that they didn't even bother to investigate or offer an apology. The body shop technician also highlighted the unusual nature of the damage. When I contacted the controller, Rick, he essentially shut down the conversation, stating I had no case against them. Honestly, this experience raises serious questions about their ethical standards, and I certainly wouldn't trust a company with such a lack of responsibility. report abuse

The reliance solely on flags as a precaution alongside oversized trucks was a significant risk, and the lack of flashing red lights when needed created a dangerous situation. Furthermore, employees were seen standing on the back of the truck without any safety restraints, and there was an instance of someone smoking on the vehicle – these practices require immediate attention and correction.” report abuse

  “I was really impressed with this company – they truly stand behind their work. I had a bit of an issue with some asphalt product being sprayed on my car, and unfortunately, the City of Escondido wasn’t helpful at all. But the owner went above and beyond to fix the problem, and I really appreciate them doing the right thing.” report abuse

  “I’m writing to request that you please stop using Summer Springs Way as the location for the road repairs in Lake Hills.   We really appreciate you letting us know about the need for the appointment. However, we were very disappointed with the short notice – just one day – as it made it incredibly difficult for us. As retired and disabled individuals, having to be out of the house for an entire day is a significant challenge. With more advance warning, we would have been able to adjust our schedule and reschedule our doctor’s appointments. report abuse

  Overall, American Asphalt South did a really good job with the street repairs. They put down a smooth, high-quality asphalt and took the time to properly prepare the streets, which made a huge difference. The neighborhood streets look fantastic now! report abuse
