  Overall, American Fence did a decent job installing our new cedar privacy fence this summer, but we had some significant issues we want to bring to attention. Our initial interactions with the crew were positive – they were really respectful, efficient, and helpful. However, we ultimately wouldn’t recommend them based on a few key problems. Specifically, we asked for some reinforcement of the fence, and were initially told it wasn’t needed. Later, they changed their minds and insisted it was necessary, forcing us to hire another company to complete the work. We also had a really difficult experience with our project manager, Austin Dinnes. He was completely unresponsive – he never returned our phone calls, and we experienced numerous miscommunications because he didn’t seem to listen to our needs. He even accused us of being wrong on two separate occasions when he’d given us inaccurate information. Finally, while the fence looks good overall, they installed the posts directly into the ground without addressing the gap, and proposed a somewhat unsightly solution of attaching a 2x4 to the bottom. report abuse

  “Overall, the fence installation turned out really well – it looks fantastic! However, we did experience some communication challenges throughout the process. There were a few times we weren’t kept fully updated on the project timeline, and we noticed some inconsistencies in the information shared between the team members. Despite these issues, they were able to address the problems and deliver a fence that matched our exact specifications.   Overall, my experience with American Fence was pretty frustrating. Things started off well – Austin did a great job assessing the property and seemed really engaged. However, after about a month of installation, we ran into a lot of problems. They had to re-dig the fence posts twice, even though the workers themselves said it wasn't done correctly the first time, and we’re still waiting on new gate doors that were installed incorrectly for our yard. There were a few other issues covered in the contract, which just added to the hassle. I’d definitely recommend getting them to remove the excess dirt and getting insurance if you have a sprinkler system. The only positive was Summer, our project manager – she’s been incredibly helpful and responsive. Honestly, I’d probably choose a different company for a project like this; the delays and issues just weren’t worth it. report abuse

  “Overall, our experience with this company was really disappointing. They were friendly and helpful initially, and the fence itself looked good when they first installed it. However, a significant issue arose when their team missed marking the midline halfway through the project. Despite bringing it to their attention, they weren’t willing to acknowledge their mistake or offer any kind of solution. After we discussed the problem and they sent an estimator back out, it became clear they weren’t committed to getting the fence exactly where we wanted it. When we asked them to adjust the line, they became incredibly rude and insisted on charging extra labor – refusing to apologize or offer a discount. Because of this, we ended up with an awkward 4-foot gap in our yard that we can’t effectively use. Considering the $11,000 we spent, I expected a much more professional and accommodating response. We’ve already decided to use a different company for our future fencing needs.” report abuse

  Overall, we’re really pleased with the new fence installation. Our old one was falling apart, and with our two basset hounds and a corgi – especially our mischievous male who loves a good visit with the neighbors – we knew we needed a reliable replacement quickly. The team was incredibly professional and used high-quality metal fencing, and they really took our concerns about keeping our dogs contained seriously. They even addressed a weak spot our basset discovered just a couple of days after the initial install, and they’ve continued to work with us to find a permanent solution.   “I was really frustrated getting estimates from other fence companies, but American Fence Company was a breath of fresh air. They came out the next day to measure and give me a quote, and I immediately felt comfortable moving forward and I’m so glad I did!   Alex did a really great job for us. He was incredibly polite and punctual, and the estimate he provided was really thorough and easy to understand – it actually made me realize it would have cost quite a bit more to do the work ourselves. Ultimately, we decided to go with an electric fence for our dog instead, but we were very impressed with Alex’s professionalism and the quality of his quote. report abuse

  Overall, we’re incredibly happy with our new fence from American Fence. We were looking for a 6-foot white vinyl fence with two gates for our dogs, and given our oddly shaped lot, it was important to us to find a reliable company. American Fence’s price was the lowest of the four bids we received, but it was really Alex and the great warranty that convinced us. Alex was fantastic – he was so professional and helpful with the measurements and quote. And Brandon, the office manager, has been super responsive to my emails and kept the project moving forward. Honestly, you’ll really like working with both of them. The fence itself is really high quality and the installation was done professionally. Just a heads-up though: neither Alex nor Brandon will be there during the installation, so it’s really important for us to be present and make sure everything is done exactly as we discussed. They’ll be making judgment calls based on what they think is best, so don’t be afraid to step in and ask questions. We’ve actually had to get a warranty repair after a recent windstorm – they fixed the gate completely, and it’s ready for anything except a tornado! We’re completely satisfied and would definitely recommend American Fence, just be sure to stay involved throughout the process. They’re a solid company and you can tell they've been around for a while. report abuse
