  “I hired Sawyer Land Surveying Inc. in 2015 to survey a property I’d recently purchased, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disruptive and stressful. Matt Sawyer’s initial survey revealed a significant issue: the established corner monuments indicated a portion of an old wall encroaching on my neighbor’s property. Relying on this survey, I made necessary improvements to my property, including replacing the original wall. However, this triggered a series of escalating problems, including a violent confrontation with my neighbor, threats against my family and contractors, and a frivolous lawsuit. Later, another surveyor identified a four-inch error in Matt’s calculations – a mistake that was far beyond a minor discrepancy, exceeding industry standards by over five times. Despite this, Matt refused to acknowledge his mistake or offer compensation. He attempted to pressure me into signing a release, and ultimately, I was forced to sue him. My goal wasn't financial gain, but holding him accountable for the damage his inaccurate survey had caused. Ultimately, the judge ruled against me due to a misinterpretation of the statute of limitations, highlighting the serious consequences of relying on flawed work. While Matt may have avoided a financial settlement, his actions had a devastating impact on my family, and it’s a clear example of the importance of precision and accountability in land surveying.
