“My wife and I are so thrilled with our experience with SolarUnion! We were completely new to solar power, and they really took the time to educate us every step of the way. From the initial drone survey and proposal all the way through the design, installation, and final inspection, everything was handled with incredible professionalism and a really impressive sense of timeliness. What really stood out to us was their responsiveness – they were always quick to answer our questions and address any concerns we had. The installer’s work was truly outstanding; it was clear they took immense pride in their craft, and the final result is a beautifully executed system. We wholeheartedly recommend SolarUnion to anyone considering going solar!”

“Overall, SolarUnion did a fantastic job installing our new solar and battery system in the East Bay. The entire process, from initial design to final connection, took about six months, and they handled everything – the design, permits, working with PGE, and upgrading our electrical service to 200 amps – with professionalism and efficiency. The installers were truly excellent, and we especially appreciated them also installing our EV charger. We’re really happy with the results; our power consumption from the grid is down to just 10% of what it used to be, and we no longer face those high peak-hour rates at night. Most recently, during that power shutoff a few days ago, the backup system worked perfectly – the house powered back up quickly and seamlessly, which gave us a huge sense of security. We feel confident that SolarUnion will be here for the 10-year battery warranty and the 25-year solar panel warranty, and we’re very pleased with our investment.”

“I was really impressed with this solar company – they took the COVID situation incredibly seriously, which I really appreciated. Beyond that, the whole team was so professional and genuinely interested in understanding my needs and project. I chose them over other companies based on their excellent Yelp reviews and the fantastic service I received. The equipment they installed is top-of-the-line, and I love that I can monitor my solar production through an app, plus they report the data to Solar Union for performance analysis. And, of course, the warranty gave me a lot of peace of mind – definitely worth comparing when you’re shopping around. We passed our inspection with flying colors, which was a huge relief! Overall, it was a fantastic experience working with them.”

“I was really pleased with Solar Union – they handled a pretty complex installation for me. I was having my roof replaced at the same time, and I specifically needed them to waterproof the solar panel supports while the roofing work was ongoing. They were fantastic about coordinating with my roofer, even coming out on the day they were there and then returning after the roof was finished. Everyone I’ve recommended them to has had a great experience too!”

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the installation – it’s fantastic having a mini-solar plant on our roof now! We really appreciate all the hard work Solar Union put in; it was a huge undertaking to handle everything from the design and permits to the actual installation and connecting it to the grid. Great job!”

Overall, Solar Union did a solid job with our new solar project. We’d definitely recommend them. The panels have been working perfectly for almost a year now. While they were a bit pricier than some other quotes, we felt comfortable with their size and experience, especially considering their 25-year warranty. We did have a bit of a challenging start when the initial layout plans couldn’t accommodate the panels as originally specified – it took some extra back-and-forth, including us measuring the roof ourselves and researching the local codes to ensure everything met requirements. It would have been great if they’d gotten the initial drawings right, as that’s something we’d expect from any good installer. The installation itself went really well; the installers were incredibly knowledgeable and professional, and the work was top-notch. They were proactive in flagging code-related issues and made the necessary adjustments. The biggest delay was the process of getting PG&E approval, which took about six months – a bit longer than the initially quoted timeframe, but still acceptable.

“We were really disappointed with our experience with SolarUnion. We’d signed a contract back in March/April 2023 for solar panel installation, and then in July 2024, we received a sudden email saying the contract was being cancelled. It turned out they hadn’t even submitted our permit application, which meant they couldn’t secure the better NEM 2.0 rate. They essentially admitted it was an oversight on their part, and now any system they’d install would be under the less favorable NEM 3.0 rate. They essentially said there was nothing they could do about it. Because of this, we requested a discount to compensate for the lost opportunity to get the better rate, but they refused to budge. It felt like a really frustrating and poorly handled situation.”

“We were really pleased with Solar Union – we found them through Energy Sage. After getting quotes from both companies, they were the clear winner. Our consultant was fantastic, really walking us through the whole financing process and helping us weigh the pros and cons of DC versus AC systems. He patiently answered all our questions as we figured out what was best for us. They even designed the panel layout based on our roof and energy needs, ensuring the panels had an unobstructed view of the sky. The permitting process was surprisingly smooth, though a little slow, and the installation itself was incredibly quick – just five 400W panels! We now have a web-based monitoring system that lets us track each panel’s performance. Everything was incredibly well done, from the secure mounting and perfectly laid conduit to the level combiner box. The whole process took about six months, but we couldn’t be happier with the quality and service we received.”

“I’m incredibly frustrated with the entire process. It’s been over a year and a half since my solar installation, and I’m still waiting for a promised transformer upgrade – PG&E isn’t giving me a firm date beyond April 2025. Honestly, it’s been a huge delay and a lot of wasted time. Adding to the problem, SolarUnion was brought in after I had to essentially troubleshoot the system myself, trying to get the SolarEdge inverter to limit power output. They seem completely unfamiliar with how their systems are supposed to function, and I haven't seen any improvement in my solar bill despite their involvement. At this point, I’m seriously questioning whether the system they installed even works. I would strongly advise anyone considering this setup to proceed with extreme caution.”

“Overall, the initial installation and sales process with SolarUnion went smoothly, which is great. However, I’m really disappointed with how things have been after the system was installed. We’ve had our system for about two years, and recently it just stopped working due to a ground fault. When I contacted them for help, they immediately demanded a $1,000 upfront payment to even schedule a service call, and wouldn’t investigate whether the issue might be related to their work – something that should be covered under warranty. It took nearly three weeks to get an appointment scheduled, and then they postponed it again, initially telling me it was just a different time on the same day. Honestly, every day of this delay is costing us money, and we’re left footing the bill for two separate service visits. I’m very frustrated with SolarUnion’s response and their lack of professionalism.”
