  Honestly, my recent Havasupai rental experience was really disappointing. I’ve hiked there before, and my first time, the equipment was handled by REI, which had a much higher standard of quality. This time, it felt like they weren’t checking anything. I ended up renting a water reservoir that looked like it had been used for years, and the backpack I received had completely worn-out straps – it offered absolutely no support. I was so grateful I’d checked it beforehand and was able to grab some seatbelt strap supports to make it bearable. It seemed like most of the equipment was just on its last legs. I was fortunate enough to have some time to shop around as a local and ended up buying some essentials myself. My pack ended up weighing around 32-35 pounds, and to make things even worse, the staff at the front blamed *me* for the discomfort, saying I was being “overweight” despite having trained with weighted packs. It’s a tough, 20-30 mile hike, and I definitely wouldn’t trust their rental gear for such a life-changing experience. report abuse

  “We had an amazing experience renting equipment for our Havasupai trip – everything was top-notch and brand new. The backpacks were really comfortable and lightweight, and the tent was fantastic – easy to set up and take down, plus it was completely waterproof. They provided everything we needed, except for food, which was perfect. We really appreciated their honesty and fairness when a walking pole broke; they didn’t charge us for it.   “I can’t recommend LowerGear Outdoors enough! My partner and I were looking for kayaks in May, and Dallas was fantastic – he really took the time to understand what we needed them for and gave us some great advice. There was absolutely no pressure to buy, which was a huge relief. We went back in July with a few more questions, and Dallas was just as helpful, patiently answering everything. When we finally picked up our kayaks last week, he walked us through every single detail, showing us how to use the pedal drives and even giving us tips for safely bringing them back to shore. It made a huge difference in how comfortable we felt. We really appreciated being able to get everything we needed – the kayaks themselves, a roof mount, paddles, life jackets, and a stabilizer – all in one place. They even helped us install the roof mount and load everything up safely. We had an amazing time kayaking at Butcher Jones last Sunday, and it was so smooth and easy thanks to LowerGear Outdoors!” report abuse

  “I was just looking for some shoe traction devices, and I was really impressed with this company. They had exactly what I needed for rent, and they even provided me with two pairs, a shipping box, and a prepaid label to send them back. My daughter and I were able to hike safely in the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon thanks to their equipment – it was fantastic! The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, offered great customer service, and quickly solved a minor issue we had.” report abuse
