Their construction quality is noticeably better than anything else around here, but what really stood out was how perfectly the design fit our lifestyle. They didn’t just build a house based on our preferences; they really took the time to understand how we live and planned everything from the flow of the rooms to the heating and cooling systems. Living four hours away presented a slight challenge, but we managed to coordinate seamlessly, and they were always present at the key stages of the build. The level of detail in the plans and specifications was incredible – far beyond what you typically see in a custom home.   “After seven wonderful years in our Barley & Pfeiffer home, I can honestly say it was the smartest investment we ever made. The house is fantastic – it’s holding up beautifully and is incredibly easy to live in. We’ve added solar and a garage heater to protect our water system, and we’re planning an emergency generator. Honestly, we haven't needed to make any major repairs and it’s so simple to maintain. We chose Barley & Pfeiffer because they really understood what we were looking for – a low-maintenance, energy-efficient home for retirement in the Texas Hill Country. Alan and Peter were fantastic; they took the time to get to know our lifestyle and designed a home that flows perfectly with it. The design process was really collaborative, and we were able to incorporate all the best elements from the homes we’d lived in over the years, even while we were living overseas. They even helped us select a great builder, and B&P’s detailed specifications ensured we got exactly what we contracted for. The finished product—with the stunning stone work and energy-efficient design—is absolutely worth every penny. We’re particularly thrilled with the rainwater collection system, which is proving invaluable during these challenging groundwater conditions.
