  Daniel was fantastic to work with throughout the entire process of designing our custom home. From our first meeting, we were really impressed with his vision and he clearly took the time to understand what we wanted. We met with him quite a few times – about nine in total – and he really involved us in every step, letting us review a detailed 3D model and even collaborate on the interior design. What we really appreciated was his hands-on approach. He gave us the opportunity to see the house from every angle, and we could even integrate photos of the site to get a true sense of the views. Because he only takes on a limited number of projects each year, he was completely dedicated to us, and we never felt like just another number. We were a bit nervous going into this, having never designed a home before, but Daniel's thoroughness and passion were reassuring. He answered all our questions patiently and explained everything clearly, and we felt incredibly confident in his expertise. We contacted several firms, but their fees were consistently high – often a percentage of the total construction cost – which felt a little unfair.   “My husband and I bought a lot with the goal of building our dream home about 18 months ago, and we were really mindful of the potential challenges – especially given our location on Lake Travis and the need to work with LCRA for septic permits. We spoke to several architects in the Austin area who had done custom homes, and they all cautioned us about the complexities involved. We looked at architectural fees, which ranged dramatically, from 4% to 10% of the estimated $1 million construction cost. Thankfully, we found Daniel Boardman Residential Design, and he was a fantastic partner. His fees were significantly lower – just 2.5% of the construction cost. He was incredibly efficient and easy to work with, providing us with a very detailed site plan and expertly coordinating with our septic engineer to ensure we met all LCRA’s requirements. The construction documents he provided were far superior to what our friends had received from other firms, and they ended up paying considerably more.
