“My experience with Highland was really inconsistent. I initially had a fantastic experience back in 2016 when I first contacted Matt before buying my house – he was incredibly responsive, did a very thorough job, and provided a detailed report. However, things went completely sideways when he was scheduled to revisit the house in January 2023. Despite a year and a half passing, I never received the promised report from that visit. Matt simply disappeared; I sent multiple emails and calls, but he ignored me. I eventually gave up. Then, in July 2024, I tried reaching out again and actually got a response, but he still didn’t deliver the report he’d promised. It’s clear he just stopped communicating, and I’m not going to be contacting him again – I’d recommend choosing a different company.”

“I unfortunately regret hiring Matt Monroe for the foundation inspection on the house we’re buying. I paid him upfront based on his assurances that he’d send over a report detailing the necessary repairs. Despite several follow-ups, I never received the report, and it seems like I was left with no concrete information.”

“I couldn’t be happier with Highland Engineering. I contacted them to inspect the foundation of a new house I was buying, and they were incredibly responsive – they got someone out to me within a very short time. The inspection itself was fantastic; the report was clear, detailed, and easy to understand. Matt, the inspector, was also fantastic – he patiently answered all my questions and really put me at ease. Honestly, it was the best inspection experience I’ve ever had, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone needing a thorough inspection or structural assessment.”

“We’ve used Highland Engineering twice now, and we’re so impressed! Matt, the owner, came by today for a follow-up inspection, and he was just fantastic. He was incredibly kind, courteous, and really took the time to explain everything clearly and patiently. It was really reassuring to see his professionalism, and the small gesture of taking his shoes off when he came to the door really added to the positive experience. He completely put our worries about a few things with the house at ease – we’d absolutely recommend him and his team!”

“I was really impressed with Highland’s responsiveness and the thoroughness of his assessment. He completely explained the condition of my foundation, and, more importantly, pointed out issues that the other repair companies hadn’t even noticed. His report gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to get accurate bids – it’s so important not to just take the word of salespeople. I wholeheartedly recommend Highland’s services.”

“I had a really concerning situation with my house – I was noticing sinking and cracks both inside and out, and needed a solid assessment of my foundation. I’d been recommended Highland by a friend, and after reading their Yelp reviews, I decided to go with them. I’m someone who understands construction and foundations, having a background in Construction Science, so I wasn't completely clueless, but I definitely wasn’t a foundation expert. What really stood out was how professional and organized Highland was from the very beginning. They were incredibly responsive to my questions and were genuinely thoughtful and knowledgeable. Matt, the owner, went above and beyond, visiting my house multiple times to discuss the issues as they arose – a level of dedication I rarely see. They put together a fantastic plan for installing piers and worked with me closely throughout the whole process. I wholeheartedly recommend Highland – five stars!”

“Matt was present for the walkthrough of my new home, and while the walk-through itself was okay, I was extremely disappointed with his lack of follow-through. He never provided me with a written report or summary to share with my contractor, despite repeated calls and my request for a refund if he couldn’t deliver one. This completely stalled the construction process, and I ultimately won’t be using his services again. I wouldn’t recommend him.”

“Matt was fantastic throughout this whole process. He quickly identified the structural issues in the attic and provided us with really clear blueprints to address them. Knowing we were struggling to find a reliable contractor, he went above and beyond by recommending a company that gave us a fair estimate. And to top it all off, he kept in touch regularly to check on the progress and make sure we had everything we needed.”

I’m incredibly disappointed with my experience so far. I contacted Matt Monroe, the principal engineer, and he initially seemed very helpful, saying they were interested in bidding on my project. However, when I followed up on the bid, he admitted his draftsman had already completed 90% of the design without my knowledge or approval. Despite the good price he quoted, I agreed to move forward with the design. Now, for over three weeks, I’ve been trying to review the plans, reaching out to Matt repeatedly by phone and text. He scheduled several conference calls to discuss them, but has since stopped responding to my calls or messages – he won't even answer the phone. Because of this complete lack of communication and responsiveness, I’ve decided to move my project to another firm.

“We were incredibly impressed with Highland – they really went above and beyond for us. We needed a home inspection and structural report done urgently before a long weekend, and they not only met our deadline but actually delivered them even faster than we expected! Their pricing was fair, and the inspector was fantastic – he explained everything clearly and in a really approachable way. We’d definitely recommend them!”
