  Building our dream home with Robert McNearney Custom Homes was an incredibly smooth experience. From the very beginning, Bob and his team went above and beyond to make everything as easy as possible, keeping us fully informed every step of the way. They successfully delivered our home on both time and within our budget, even proactively working with our bank to maintain that consistency. It was really reassuring to have such open communication – Bob regularly checked in with us and the various subcontractors (like the interior designer, carpenters, plumbers, and electricians) and everyone was always responsive, professional, and genuinely helpful.   Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend McNearney Builders. I hired them with a specific budget in mind, and from the start, the communication was really lacking. They initially assured me they could deliver my vision within that budget, but things quickly went wrong. I even paid for an architect’s plans, only to be told later that the land my house was supposed to be built on had already been sold to someone else. After investing nearly $3,000 and spending over 10 hours meeting with the architect, and a total of six weeks of wasted time, the final cost of our 2800 sq. ft. house ended up being $110,000 over budget – and it felt like they cut corners, like using concrete floors instead of proper flooring and omitting lighting. It was incredibly frustrating to waste my time and money, and my advice to them would be to improve communication and realize that if a project hits a dead end, it’s best to address it upfront. report abuse

  “We couldn’t be happier with the work Bob and his team did rebuilding our lakefront house in 2014. It was a complete tear-down rebuild, and we’d absolutely do it again with them. The quality of the work is outstanding – they clearly take immense pride in their craft and offered fantastic advice and ideas to enhance our plans.   Honestly, we’re really disappointed with this house. It looks beautiful, but the quality of the materials and the workmanship is just incredibly poor. We’ve already noticed a lot of shortcuts that were taken, and it’s clear the quality has declined since we moved in. We’re regretting our decision and planning to sell as quickly as possible. report abuse
