  Overall, we had a really difficult experience with this contractor. Initially, things seemed to be progressing well, and we were pleased with their updates. However, at the very end of the project, we were hit with a completely unexpected and substantial increase in the bill – nearly 50% more than the original $95,000 estimate. Adding to the frustration, the contractor’s management of the project was inconsistent, frequently pulling away to work on other assignments, and then charging us for storing their equipment. They also acknowledged making some construction errors and attempted to rectify them, but unfortunately, they also charged us for the cost of those corrections, creating a significant and unwelcome financial burden.   Bachmann Construction did a beautiful job renovating our parents’ old house into Legacy House Imports, and the building itself is a real success. However, we’ve run into a series of significant problems that have been incredibly frustrating and costly. Initially, the site manager made lighting decisions without consulting our architect, who was out of town at the time. This resulted in a much more elaborate and expensive lighting system than we needed. We had to have Hill Electric remove a lot of unnecessary track lighting and ground lighting, which frequently failed when it rained. More recently, we've been plagued by ongoing water issues. There’s a constant leak into the basement where the old and new sections meet, and it’s even leaked under our new back door onto the hardwood floor. And now, we’re facing a major issue with the parking lot – it’s consistently flooded, creating ice dams right over the handicapped parking spaces, and the drainage system has been repeatedly damaged by snow plows. They’re now saying they can’t achieve the required drainage grade without completely replacing the curb and gutter, which is costing us a small fortune. It’s clear that from the beginning, there were design and execution issues that have ultimately led to these substantial problems. report abuse

  Working with Bachmann was absolutely fantastic. I especially want to thank Chris Quant for his patience and support as I launched my first brick-and-mortar business – he really went above and beyond. The team they assembled, including all the subcontractors, were incredible to work with and did a truly superb job. They were always so responsive, answering my questions quickly throughout the entire construction process and even after. A huge thanks also to Jimmy Z, Tim, and the whole team for taking the time to work through some specific challenges I had. After two successful construction phases over the past couple of years, and with their ongoing support, I wholeheartedly recommend Bachmann to anyone. I’m really hoping the same team will be available when I’m ready to expand my business again – they’ve been a pleasure to work with. report abuse
