Overall, this was a decent experience. The staff were helpful and there weren’t any issues with the store itself. However, I was disappointed that the trencher I rented immediately threw its chain while I was using it – I definitely recommend giving any equipment a thorough inspection before taking it out. Despite that hiccup, it was still a quicker solution than going back to the store to exchange it.

“I was really frustrated with my experience. I made a reservation a week in advance and confirmed everything on Tuesday. When I went to pick up my truck, it wasn't there in the parking lot, and the employee I spoke with said it hadn’t been delivered yet and I’d have to wait for the next truck. Honestly, it felt pointless to have a reservation if they couldn’t honor it. Ultimately, my reservation was canceled just an hour before pickup, forcing me to scramble around town to find a replacement truck. To add to the hassle, I’m still waiting 10 days for my initial deposit back, and now I’ve had to pay another $150 for a new reservation at a different store – thankfully they had one truck available. I’m incredibly disappointed with how this was handled.”

“While they do offer tool rentals, it seems like inexperienced DIYers might find themselves spending significantly more time – potentially longer than a day – on a project if they’re renting. Frankly, they don’t seem to recognize this and don’t offer any advice or guidance suggesting a purchase might be a better long-term investment, even when you point out you anticipate needing the tool for an extended period.”

“We recently rented a trencher from HD’s tool rental and, frankly, our experience was pretty disappointing. We’ve been loyal customers of A to Z Rentals for years, and HD’s rate was slightly lower, so we decided to give them a try. The check-out process itself was really smooth – the employee was very helpful. However, returning the trencher was a completely different story. We went above and beyond, ensuring it was full of fuel and carefully returning it with everything set up as it was when we picked it up. Despite all that, we were charged a significantly higher rate than A to Z, and we were given a late fee after explaining the effort it took to return it. The employee seemed completely inflexible, refusing to acknowledge the extra work we’d done and simply stating we were late. It felt incredibly frustrating after years of positive experiences with HD, and ultimately, we won’t be renting tools there again.”

“I rented a concrete saw with a diamond blade, but unfortunately, it wasn’t cutting properly – I discovered the blade was completely dull with no diamonds remaining. Tim was incredibly helpful and genuinely apologetic about the issue. He quickly sorted it out for me, and it was a really positive experience overall. Thank you, Tim!”

“I was pretty disappointed with the return process for the ladder we rented. The person who came to collect it insisted my husband carry it all the way around the building – he’s 67 – and that felt unnecessary and a bit inconsiderate.”
-
“It’s a really handy spot to pop into if you’re tackling a weekend DIY project and don’t have a full workshop at home. I’d definitely be back if I needed it again.”
-
“Overall, it seems like a solid place – the staff were friendly and they had a good range of tools available for rent.”
-
“Honestly, it just needs a quick refresh – a little bit of touch-up paint and some lubrication to get things running smoothly.”
-
“That was incredibly helpful and appreciated, thank you so much!”
